Rodgers and Martinez should be top of the list.

    Definitely. :50:

People also need to remember the work Martinez did with Swansea and Wigan. Wigan were so poor, constantly losing their best players and basically had no fans and he kept keeping them up. I mean they were relegated twice since he left and he won them their first ever major trophy too.

This season at Everton has been poor but I mean all he's done is basically finished 12th with a side who probably should be around 8th (when you factor in the big 6 and then a side like Leicester and then consider how West Ham are dramatically improving). I think his line about getting them in the champions league has backfired on him, I can guarantee a lot more leniency would have been shown to Moyes if was still there. They are still a pretty young team who've been transitioning away from the team Moyes had. I do sacking him was probably just about right all things considering though.

I think he's a good manager who would probably do well in our environment. I still want Brendan, but Martinez wouldn't be a bad choice either.

Mackay is defiantly on the shortlist I don't doubt that, he is trying to put all the text scandal stuff behind him but he's not good enough for us
His short spell at Wigan pretty proved it

I've said before... When was the last time (and even time before) we appointed a manager with as big a rep as Moyes or Rodgers?

The board are trying to sell season tickets. I hope I'm wrong but what makes it different to any time before?

MON was obviously the biggest in recent years but that was when we had money. We don't anymore... That's obvious.

Based on his performance at other clubs mainly. I don't know why anyone rates the guy.

The board haven't come out and said anything- it has all been bookies and paper talk.

In fact the recent interview with PL was quite sobering - nothing but realism, which is surprising for ST time.

He wouldn't be my top pick but apart from Moyes and Rodgers, Martinez is by far better than anything on those list's..

Played and knows the Scottish game. Isn't and hasn't been afraid to snap up the best player's in our league and make them successful. Naismith, McCarthy and McArthur just 3 of those. A proven premier league manager and had success down there..

Not the worst appointment and he'd do well here..

I'm sure he had enough money for a better defender than Gary Caldwell. Couldn't be arsed defending at Everton either and had a good squad playing terribly.

I think we have EPL syndrome. Anyone who's had any modicum of success, even if it's mid-table or avoiding relegation for a while, as long as it's EPL they must be a good manager and must be good enough for Celtic.

It doesn't work like that. This club is a different challenge altogether from avoiding relegation with Wigan. There's a mental toughness, motivation, attention to detail required which Martinez hasn't shown.

It's been toxic for ages and the player's have clearly downed tool's. It hasn't worked but I don't think he's a * manager..

So we should refuse to consider any manager who has been sacked by a club previously?

    Good thinking Batman.

The list should read imo (of the names mentioned)

    Rodgers
    Martinez
    Moyes
    Neil
    Clarke
    Lennon
    Keane
    Lambert
    Hartley

Bet365's odds have fairly shifted today.

Roy Keane has drifted from 8/11 to 2/1. David Moyes is in from 10/1 to 4/1 and Paul Lambert is in from 12/1 to 5/1.
