If true, the fact that we,officially, are even considering Malky with all the luggage he carries after the Cardiff texts, leaves me speechless.

In case we cannot get any big name, I'd want Strachan as the backup option. I dread the idea of Keane or Lambert being the backup to Moyes, Rodgers, Benitez...

Was just thinking about jobs maybe becoming available in the EPL in the summer if that is what guys like Moyes or Rodgers are waiting on. Everton will probably become available, Moyes could be in contention but I think someone like de Boer might get the nod, Watford will probably sack Flores but have someone already lined up and beyond that I cant see to many jobs becoming available.

If we make the right offer to Moyes I think he will take it, Rodgers could well be in the same boat.

I was suprememly confident of getting Rodgers in.

But then Lawwells "we have no money and we wont spend money" interview * that out the window. What manager worth their salt is going to take a job in Scotland with a budget on less than 10M to lead a team into europe?

    Looks like its keane.

Wenger will only leave if he chooses to, he will not be sacked and couldnt see Moyes or Rodgers being in contention for it anyways.

After the way he has talked when pushed about it this season, get the feeling his days are numbered. Arsenal really need to move on from him. But you're right moyes and Rodgers won't be their man

He only speaks Spanish and Italian so I doubt it - although I thought that myself before I knew his limited linguistic skills. :smiley-laughing002:

Few years yet before he leaves Atletico.

Thought about it and thought about it and id like Paul Hartley to be given a chance.

I think Moyes and Keane and Rogers will only come for a boost to the cv and be offski within 2 years.

Hartley is a fan, an ex player, Scottish, and is gradually proving he has got what it takes to be a manager. I have no doubt in my mind if he isnt appointed, he will be tapped by a decent English club and do well down there.

It would be great to get someone in who would be here for the long haul (success permitting) and build up the club as opposed to someone in for 2 or 3 years and just using us as a stepping stone.

Dont see many managers being given that chance anymore. Too much at stakes for clubs nowadays money wise.

All three of those points mean * all. No offence here, but I hate when we get linked/sign managers based on those criteria. I want a manager who offers much much more than that. And for me hartley has not done enough to merit this job. No doubt he has some potential and in years to come he may be just that. But right now he is a young manager with no where near enough experience or enough clout to manage us.

If we ever plan on getting back into the CL then we need a manager who has that type of experience. We can not afford to go get a big name in as they wont come once we tell them the budget and wage structure so it has to be someone who is looking to prove themselves again, Moyes or Rodgers are the only two who might come that are worth talking about.

I am not interested in Keane, McKay, Coyle, Lambert, Hartley or anyone of that stature and getting Lenny back is not right either we need a fresh approach and a manager that make the board change there approach as to how we buy and sell players I don't think Lenny can do the last bit. if it came down to me to choose it would be Rodgers for me.

Yes, fair enough, but his team lost 6-0 to us this year, and after that mauling, he got 2 0-0s against us!!!
His 2 jobs have so far shown an obvious talent for the job.

I dont think just because Ronny didnt work out we should necessarily go for a 'name'......management is about luck as well as ability, and for me, a name guarantees nothing.
