What if they come here and get us to the CL Last 16 with some good performances along the way? Win the league and a cup?

That's as good a way as any to rebuild your career.

The difference is, this was his first job and he wasn't as respected down south as Moyes or Rodgers. People down south know what those two are all about, so if they came here and did a great job, they'd easily get a job in the EPL.

They'd already easily get a job there.

Big gamble though, when you know for sure you can just sit and wait on a £3million per year job, most likely guaranteeing you £6million even if you get sacked after a season. Then you wouldnt take a £800k a year job that could destroy your chance of earning £5million+ again in future.

Even any of us on here if we were in Moyes or Rodgers position would never take the Celtic job and we are much bigger Celtic fans than them. You'd need to be off your nut to risk that amount of money.

Even after all MON did, he got the Villa job. He could have got that after leaving Leicester, no problem. The fact is, managing here won't do much for a manager unless they do something seriously special.

I doubt Moyes will end up back at Everton, but other than that I agree totally. These guys are already having sweet dreams about their EPL transfer kitty's next season.

There's really nothing that either guy could achieve here that would enhance their reputation in the football world.

Rodgers took Swansea to 11th and got rewarded with the Liverpool job. Neil Lennon worked a Champions league miracle here and ends up at Bolton. Tells the whole story.

I think Strachan ended up in the championship with Middlesboro after leaving us if I remember correctly. Some fans have a delusion that to achieve success here means you have universal respect. It doesnt, no one down south could give a * how you do at Celtic. And unfortunately no matter how many berate me for saying this- that is were everyone wants to be. Moyes and Rodgers most definetly want to be there and my huch is they are using Celtic as leverage to try and attract offers from the EPL.

Don't see why anyone would, it's quite clear that most managers will want to work in the EPL for at least some time in their career. So much money to spend and high wages and exposure for themselves, it's a no brainer from a professional point of view.

The fact that Rodgers has stated before that he'd love the job and be honoured to have it, maybe gives a slight hint he would take the job. And same with moyes, he obviously likes the club and isn't exactly the most sought after manager out there so why not have a go.

Personally I don't think we'll be ambitious enough to go for them, and I don't think they will be that tempted to remove themselves from the Premier League merry-go-round just yet either.

Edit: I think we'll end up with Lennon or Lambert.

Aye, seen as the successor to Fergie but ended up at Villa and never had a decent offer after that.

Woeful how poorly rated the SPFL is.

The only shred of hope I have of us getting a good 'known' manager is if that manager already has enough standing/prestige in the market.

As mentioned, Celtic is a job you can't win with. You can move mountains and the * down the road don't care. HOWEVER - if the manager has already done enough down there, then it might sway them.

Usually you would have to pay said manager/s a decent wage (not holding my breathe with us).

Moyes and Rodgers fit the bill.

he did a pretty good job at aston villa, they finished 6th 3 years in a row if im right? I kinda got the impression he was seen as a very good manager but not a great one, so it was unlikely a top 4 side would come in for him, only one i could have imagined was liverpool, i dont think it had too much to do with underrating his time with celtic.
