    Don't talk nonsense.:smiley-laughing002:

Intelligent? What do you mean by that exactly?

'Takes * from no-one' great, that'll sort us out straight away. I'd honestly rather Deila stayed than have Keane, no evidence to suggest he'd be a better appointment or take us forward.

I really don't get people raving about Keane - the last time I think we dodged a bullet. All that is required is an examination of his history since 2007. Honestly, for an obviously highly intelligent businessman - I just don't know what makes DD think Keane is the answer.

As someone has pointed out - he has one successful season as a manger under his belt - no better than Coyle, MacKay, Michael O'Neill. He spent a fortune to get Sunderland promoted - paying way over the odds for some average players - some of whom were then sold for a substantial loss.

Once the going got tough at Sunderland - he bailed out. His time at Ipswich was a complete failure (I'm not interested what Darren O'Dea says - its a results business).

Aston Villa is a basket case but Keane was hated by almost all the players - that wouldn't bother him but it didn't improve results and again - he bailed out after less than 1 season.

He would certainly inspire some fight in the players but I've never seen anything to show that he has any tactical ability or ability to motivate beyond frightening players or criticising them. I don't think he has Clough's ability to get average players to play above themselves (but MON does!). Keane seems able to replicate the worse traits of Ferguson but not the results that made people tolerate him.

If he came back as part of a team with MON, I'd be jubilant. However, if he comes on his own - i think that after 6 moths, he will have lost the dressing room - played into the hands of the laptop loyal media and will probably bail out yet again.

If we can't get Rogers, Moyes or MON - I'd honestly be happier giving Steve Clarke or Paul Hartley a go rather than spending a fortune on Keane.

Desmond wants Keane because he thinks his 'box office' name as a footballer will appease us all.

In reality it would be a cop out as he's only a big name because of his playing days. As others have said the likes of Clarke, McCarthy etc have shown more in terms of coaching and management than him.

Both Lambert and Lennon as well, they should both he higher up the list.

    What about Rafa Benitez?

    Hear me out!

DD said he wants a 'name' what a name he would be - won lots of cups including the big one.
He'd be very expensive but if Newcastle go down he'd possibly be a free agent.
    Thoughts?

He has a vast CV of leading, on the park. Off it? A vast CV of being a passive aggressive, abrasive, loser. That walks away from trouble.

Why would I say it to his face moon unit?

I'd say it on a Forum, which I'm a member of in a thread asking for opinions on potential managers.

If the opportunity ever arose where I was in his company and asked my opinion, I'd still say he's a failed manager and not good enough for Celtic.

    That OK?

    Yes!

    As for Roy Keane...

Why has he never even been on the 'future manager' radar of Man United?

The only way I'd take Roy Keane is as Martin O'Neill's assistabt.

We'll end up with the cheapest option.

Alex Neil is a very good option imo a lack of a regular goalscorer is the only reason Norwich are in relegation trouble he's won at Old Trafford this season and has them playing attacking football no matter the game

:50: I also think Alex Neil would be a good appointment! Might not be as high profile as guys such as Rodgers and Moyes but I like his mentality. Did very well at Hamilton with a team with a team with a lot of youngsters. That's what I want someone who will give the younger players a chance if they are doing well enough and drop players that are not performing!
Also did well getting Norwich out of the Championship which is a very competitive league! Quite surprised they are in the relegation zone because when I have watched them they have played good football.

I'd settle for that if it was our best option...

Obviously works for the Ireland job...

MONs "officer style" measured calm and tactical knowhow paired with

    Keane's "sgt major" shouty, in-yer-face, hair-dryer-esque menace.

Still think the best way to move forward quickly will be to install Lennon as manager. This, i think, will have us prepared in time for the CL qualifiers and with a bit of money to spend will see a couple of decent recruits to the playing squad.

Heard through the grape vine Lawell is away to run a company in Canada and Demond's son is coming in and wants to bring MON and Keane in. Probably not at all true but I think it would get the crowds in.
