It is commercialism at its height, there is no denying the EPL is the most well run and funded commercial association on the planet.
    Its horrible, but its effective.

How many of these Man Utd and Liverpool "fans" actually go to games. If you were to count only fans who attend live games then Celtic fans would be in the majority. Many of these EPL fan boys would be no different than fans from Malaysia or India.

Why have Liverpool no shop in Dublin?

Why did Man Utds shop in Dublin have to close down despite them still having to pay the lease?

    A bonus?

WInning is the only thing that matters..
If it's at celtic park it will be a great ocassion for loads of reasons but if we don't get the win i'll be on a right downer and so will the irish lads if they don't,they certainly won't see beating us as a bonus..

All i want after 16 years or whatever it is,is qualification!

All Irish as they are from the island of Ireland. Some have British passports. All men born in Northern Ireland were born in the United Kingdom, too. That's a fact.

Tbh I can't speak much Irish either. The majority of people in Ireland learn the national anthem in school.

    Citizenship through birth in Ireland

If you were born in Ireland and your parent(s) were Irish citizens, then you are also an Irish citizen.
However, in certain circumstances some people born in Ireland have to claim Irish citizenship

If you are: Then you are:
A Born in the island of Ireland on or before 31 December 2004 Entitled to Irish citizenship or you are an Irish citizen
B Born on the island of Ireland on or after 1 January 2005 Entitled to Irish citizenship if your parents are Irish. Entitled to Irish citizenship, if your parents are foreign nationals legally resident in the island of Ireland for 3 out of 4 years immediately prior to your birth.
C Child of A, born outside the island of Ireland An Irish citizen
D Child of C and a grandchild of A, born outside the island of Ireland Entitled to Irish citizenship, but you must first register in the Foreign Births Register E a child of D and a great-grandchild of A, born outside the island of Ireland Entitled to Irish citizenship, by having your birth registered in the Foreign Births Register, but only if your parent D had registered by the time of your birth.

Scotland of course as I'm Scottish. I hope both teams go through naturally though.

Yes United and Liverpool are the most popular teams followed by Celtic. I couldn't care less if someone doesn't support Celtic over here.

If you have forgotten we have our own football league in Ireland. Celtic has a better fanbase in Ireland then every LOI team fanbase put together. That's quite embarrassing.

The same could be said of Palestinians born in Israels occupied territories but it makes them no less Palestinian.

Scotland, although I wish Ireland well due to my strong Irish roots.

According to SSN Hampden will not be available for the Scotland versus Georgia and the Scotland versus Ireland matches, so Celtic Park then?

Maybe that;s because they are less likely to get shot by the loyalist scum when wearing a Man Utd or Liverpool top than if they were wearing a Celtic top.

I bet you revel in that.

I must be one of the 1% who knows Amhrán na bhFiann in Irish.

Do you have to derail every thread with anti-capitalism? I happen to agree with you on a lot of things but it would be good just to discuss the issue at hand rather than turning every thread into a political discussion. Leave it for the HP&R section.

I was responding to someone's point that some people would suggest the Northern Irish are British.

This. They have more fans, we have more supporters. :50:

If you need any evidence, look to the Celtic v Liverpool game in Dublin. I sat in the Liverpool end and there were a few who didn't even know what Liverpool player was on the ball. Only songs they knew were You'll Never Walk Alone & that stupid * Liverpool chant ad nauseum. I doubt many had ever set foot in Anfield.
