Yep. The only problem is that his stock is quite high and he was commanding a salary of £25k a week - I'm not sure we would pay that. Our highest paid manager in our entire history was Martin O'Neill, who was on £20k a week.

Someone who will bring a bit of excitement back to the place.

So far Henrik is the only choice imo.

Koke, is that comfirmed? I can't see anything and AFAIK Coyle's at the Hibs game giving rather coy answers.

I have a horrible feeling it will be Owen Coyle, even though you are at the wind up. I like the guy but I would be hugely underwhelmed if he was the one to take over. A cheap option for the board though.

Surely now is the time more than ever to experiment with someone from abroad? We effectively have the league wrapped up for the foreseeable future, we need someone who has at least some european coaching experience or has a philosophy that could work in europe. Out of all the Scottish managers mentioned that man is probably Stevie Clarke, Mourinhos right hand man during his most successful period at Chelsea.

In terms of foreigners well there are surely a good few out there, Murat Yakin would be a dream move, worked wonders in Europe for Basle. Unfortunately I can't see our board having the vision or baws to go for that.

I was the one who suggested Thomas Tuchel originally, more in hope than in expectation of him actually being a realisitic target however. Someone like him though, a young european coach with a modern philosophy is what this club really needs to take it forward IMO. Out of the ones currently linked...Oscar Garcia perhaps?

Only worry with him is that he is rumoured to have no plan B, much like Barca which would be a bad thing for us in Europe as we dont have the quality of player to get away with the passing 'tiki-taki' game against better opposition.

I would give Garcia a crack. Excellent youth model, great contacts in spain etc.

this is a watershed moment for the board, whoever they appoint will show the ambition they have and the belief in what Celtic can be capable of.
if they go for the cheap option (coyle) then you will kno that they are happy to settle for mediocre football (at best) and winning in scotland and have no interest in doing anything other than turn up to europes competition and make up the numbers.

I was just giving my premature welcome to him.

I have no doubt in my mind he will be the new Celtic manager, none whatsoever.

    I've noticed that. :smiley-laughing002:

I just couldn't bare to think how boring the football would be, or how we would fare in Europe. The man is a failure and a poor tactician.

So un-inspiring to say the least.

He is untested in Europe. You never know in Football, he could lead to us to the Last 16 & beyond.

    In Coyle we trust.
