    What's your point exactly? :97:

Lennon was allowed to spend millions of pounds from the combined kitty (roughly £11m) thanks to the sales of Boruc and McGeady, and he only had a couple of months experience as a manager.

This Deila fella has been in management since 2008, and has been successful in his nation........why wouldn't he be trusted with transfer funds? :97:

Excellent point...at this point in our history we have nothing to lose. Probably a great time to gamble :50:

It's actually quite theraputic. Every time I come away from a session on here I think to myself, man I'm actually quite a positive person, who knew? :icon_mrgreen:

    A * one - but that's beside the point.

You can't honestly be saying a teacher doesn't have man-management skills? Well good teachers anyway.

It would also benefit getting the most out of youth players and indeed some of our more experienced players. Bearing in mind these are young guys who are driven, not your average kid, it will go a long way having a guy in charge who knows how to channel it.

Lennon got £11 million because the squad needed vast improvements to challenge Rangers. Look what happened after they died, Lennon made 2-3x times as much and wasn't allowed to spend it. If Neil Lennon, a proven success at Celtic and legend isn't trusted to spend it do you seriously think Deila will??

Tbh it's just him, I don't think any manager will be given a lot of money to spend.

As I said for Deila in particular, he doesn't have extensive knowledge of the wider transfer market that we operate in. Snodgrass would be my example - Lennon would go for him, he knows him but does Deila? or will he go for some Norwegian unknown?

Lennon spent about £8m last season.

That's hardly chicken feed now, is it?

And, may I ask how you know what Deila's tra sfer market knowledge is?

On reading reports, I like the look of this Deila guy. Definitely seems the best fit for the job of the candidates so far and I'm glad to hear we're looking further afield than the usual Celtic/UK/Ireland centric managers. In truth, beyond Moyes and maybe Laudrup, there's no-one that I'd be overly interested in giving the job to.

Deila fits our style of play, would gel in well with our signing policy, and would appear to have a record of working on a limited budget and with younger players but still moulding a team that still does the business on the park. Ticks the first two boxes.

On the face of reports (I know next to nothing about Norwegian football) his team may not have had the best individuals or have been the most expensively assembled, but his success was centred around tactics, style of play and work ethic.

There's something of the Diego Simeone and Atletico Madrid's season this year about this (potential) appointment. Obviously they're a class above (meaning they can do the business in Europe to a higher level), but they won the league this year against Barca and Real Madrid who both arguably have better players in most positions and spend more money than most, especially Real.

All for this. Could be a stroke of genius.

Maybe I am mistaken but has Norway not proved to be a much stronger footballing nation than Scotland over the last decade or two. Your unknown Norwegian may be superior to your known Scotsman.

I'd never heard of him either when I woke up this morning, yet I'm pretty excited for several reasons:

    1) I'm not SpellCheck or Glasgowbhoy88

    2) He's not Owen Coyle

    3) A proven track record of his team punching above their weight- exactly what we need in Europe.

    4) By all accounts he has the same kind of drive and intensity we loved in Lenny

    5) We badly need new fresh ideas from someone who has managed outside England and Scotland.

    6) He's young and hungry for success and this is his big chance.

    7) He's not Owen Coyle (worth repeating).

Now as I say, our budget means we can't afford proven quality and I'd rather someone like this (exciting but risky) than someone safe but mediocre. Wouldn't you?
