No.

I'm saying the bit of research I've done emphasizes his defensive/organizational expertise. You could argue that's our best hope of getting results in Europe.

At the same time, a lot of fans are hoping our next manager will be able to inject a more attractive, attacking style of play, which doesn't seem to be his bread and butter.

If Keane just knocked up back to become assistant manager at aston villa * must be real bad at celtic park.

The club is very lucky to have such loyal fans and be able to sell over 40,000 season tickets when all this crap is going on.

The Villa offer allows him to remain as ROI Asst Manager - don't know about the ITV pundit job - so I would say Villa must be desperate. I imagine we are looking for 'you come to us and drop everything else'. So it's a win/win for Roy.

Im pleased Roy's ruled himself out. He's far too hotheaded. The first time anything * him off he'd be straight out the door and leave us hanging. I really dont know who will get the job, but I guarentee it'll be whoever is prepared to work on the smallest budget

In my opinion steve clark would be a fine manager for us always liked the guy and I would rather have him than keane and if we cannot get malky or moyes then steve would be great better than almost all in the betting for me

Maybe Keane has (rather than be disappointed at developments at Celtic) has decided he'd rather remain with ROI, and is looking at going Villa to subsidize the nationnal job only being part-time?

Just read that he's staying with ROI as well as becoming assistant at Aston Villa. Fair play I guess.

that's what was reported mate too much doom and gloom over every press report and link debate is great and speculating with everyone`s opinions is great but too many people jump on every thing to pound the board or the club. Get used to the fact we are a huge fish in a small skint pond and like it or not we have to budget and live within our means every person who * about money just look at what happened across the city when you don't live within your means. we all want to see the best players and best football but there`s tons of examples of big money players flopping in all leagues so the price means nothing its getting value for money

I know mate, we are defo a huge fish in a small pond, bug we are still without doubt a very attractive club to potential new recruits both on the park nd off.

I'm hoping now that Steve Clarke becomes our new gaffer, extremelg astute and has a wealth of experience (been no.2 to some of the games greats: Bobby Robso, Mourinho and even Kenny Dalglish). He would be a fine appointment and no doubt has great contacts.

They probably know who our new manager is but are dragging things on so, at the end up, the majority will just be desperate for anyone to come in given the fast approaching CL qualifiers. Similar situation to the Lennon appointment. Least there are no roadshows this time for them to insult the fans intelligence.

True. Mowbray never got sacked from West Brom either.
Clarke took a half decent Hodgson side, won 20% of their matches, and spent £20million+ on dross.

I'm hoping for Clarke too... He worked with Mourinho dontcha know!

Clarke guided West Brom to 8th, their highest league position since 1981, a quite remarkable achievement in all honesty, and he never got West Brom relegated either, unlike Mowbray. Where is the comparison there? Mowbray didn't just get them relegated, he finished rock bottom.

I was OK about Steve Clarke until I read following piece from Pat Murphy, a well respected BBC Sports commentator when SC was sacked.

"You have got to look at this in the context of this calendar year. They have played 34 Premier League games and scored 31 points. Since they were third in the heady days of 2012, they have played 41 Premier League games and they have only won nine of them. Their chairman Jeremy Peace is ruthless. He is unsentimental.
"The 20% win percentage in 2013 is a major blow to the club's prospects. They put a lot of money into the first-team squad. They smashed West Brom's transfer record twice in the space of a couple of hours before the window shut.
"Having followed West Brom for over 40 years, I believe this is the best squad since 1981-82 and I think they are underachieving.
"Roy Hodgson left behind a professional outfit. Under Steve Clarke, when West Brom were at their best, they were more attractive than when they played under Hodgson, but they were less difficult to beat. Jeremy Peace likes his seat at football's top table and it would not sit well with him if they got relegated."

Having considered his comments I'm 'No' to Clarke and Coyle. My choice is still Ivaylo Petev from Limassol and ex-Ludogrets.
Also hadn't appreciated that our 1st game is on 6th July vs Rapid Vienna. That's just under 5 weeks to get new management team in place. Oooooo we do like to live on the edge.
