It's a fact that it was my made-up joking opinion.

There has been loads of folk on Twitter saying it was Moyes's job if he wanted it.

    Nobody knows. :smiley-laughing002:

Can't we all just happy Keane isn't getting the job. There always has to be negativity no matter what Celtic do. I'm looking on the bright side here.

I'm glad how it'a panned out, i didn't want him a week ago and i'm glad he's not our new boss..
It still doesn't take away the, why did he turn us down, for me that's the worrying sign..
Money is obviously a main or maybe the only factor i can see, either spending budget/having to sell or his annual terms..

And let's be honest, this doesn't look good on the club, it wasn't like we were after a highly rated/sought after coach.. Rejection could then be understandable..

In all fairness we don't know if it was close with keane because his statement says he doesn't want to be considered which tells me he was spoken to but has been told hes not the only one seems like the press jumped on this as henrik was first odds on and first convo with him was clear he wasn't coming. ssn saying Clarke was said here clarkes second season was a disaster but stats say he he was doing ok and I for one believe they sacked him too quickly so I would welcome him

We don't actually know though, do we? He could have wanted to do the Celtic job and Ireland assistants position together maybe?

We don't have a clue. Maybe Keane felt obligated to the Ireland job and so couldn't leave, theres a hundred reason why it didn't happen, and I for one am happy it didn't.

Steve Clarke is fine by me if that's the route we're going down. Better than Keane.

On what basis do you believe that you're not far off though? You know nothing, just like the rest of us on here.

Entirely speculative. People will instantly latch on the budget/selling as the reasons but until Keane or the club explains it, no one will know. He is paid extremely well by his two jobs for effectively 9 months p/t work. There maybe personal reasons for it.

As for a looking for highly rated coach, we should have never even approached Keane for informal talks.

Why else would he have rejected the job then if not for the reasons i've given?

If he was so set on his ireland commitments then why express an interest? Why speak with dd and pl? Why are the republics manager and captain both expecting/talking of him getting the job?
