Im not suggesting that they will throw money at him to spend on players but i think there may be a bit more money available to him than there would have been for Lennon due to the fact this is DD's candidate and friend and if DD really is pushing this through then he may want to ensure that if he fails then it wont be due to being unable to compete in the transfer market due to lack of funds.

Bear in mind that Desmond is unable to personally bankroll a spending spree by Keane, so the money he has to spend would have to come from the clubs bank account, which I'm don't think Lawwell would be prepared to empty any more for Keane than he was for Lennon.

If he was prepared to throw some serious cash down then he'd have given it to Lennon, wouldn't he?

Would you be happy with a Roy Keane/Steve Clarke Combo

I think a Roy Keane/Steve Clarke combo would be the way to go for Celtic.

Roy Keane to be Director of Football with Steve Clarke handling the coaching, tactics, formations and nurturing of young players.

This seems to be the way to go in most big club set ups, and could bring Celtic dividends in Europe.

    Opinions ?

It would be great BUT would Clarke go from managing to assisting/coaching? I dont think he would, which is a shame as he'd be class for us in that role. Sadly he will probably need to fail at managing another team or two before we'd get him in that role.

I think to get him we'd probably need to offer him about £20k a week, him and Keane. But I doubt Mjallby even got half of that or probably Lennon either, would probably be worth it though.

    No.

Don't want Keane here in any capacity.

I keep seeing "dream team" type suggestions that usually come up when somebody can't decide between two people for their favourite candidate. But how many times in history has a fully fledged manager regressed into taking an assistants job? Seems like Football Manager stuff at times.

If it is Keane there won't be a change in transfer policy! The structure of recruitment will be the same as before. Sell before buy.
I suspect Keane will be on a one year rolling contract, same as Neil.
His brief will be qualify for CL, league and cups etc.
RK, needs this club and it's a big opportunity for him to prove he can manage at this level.
I can see DD thinking in this potential appointment. He is a box office name of a manager who should be able to build on what Neil has started. He had a tougher job at Ipswich and Sunderland, neither clubs had a spine of a team or an infrastructure.
The key to the success of this appointment is the coaching team, assisting him, Mcclair and meulensteen would be excellent deputies.

Clarke wants to be a manager, he's served his time as an assistant.

Neither of them have been successful in management - and just because a trained monkey could win us the league, doesn't mean that's what we should have / accept!

I would give Keane a chance if appointed. His record isnt great but many managers struggle in the EPL and Championship. Its a different ball game managing a team like Celtic

I dont know if anyone has mentioned this, but seriously, A Celtic job share, this would be a * shambles.

Roy Keane can stay on as assistant manager of Ireland even if he is appointed the manager of Celtic according to a report in today’s Sunday Times. The ever reliable Paul Rowan quotes a “highly placed source close to the FAI leadership” as saying that not only is the Celtic appointment imminent, Celtic majority shareholder Dermot Desmond and FAI chief executive John Delaney are happy for Keane to job share.

Intriguingly though, the source goes on to say that Martin O’Neill will have to agree on the arrangement and harbors some doubts as to whether or not Keane is capable of juggling both jobs.

“He’ll be staying on as assistant manager with O’Neill and he will be able to do both. That is if O’Neill is cool about it.

The article also states that should Keane be appointed Celtic manager, he will not be part of ITV’s World Cup coverage this summer and will stay in Glasgow to prepare Celtic for their Champions League qualifier.

In the aftermath of Ireland’s 0-0 draw with Italy in London, Martin O’Neill said Keane’s future will be resolved by Wednesday.

Lennon mainly worked with MON down south then again up here along with WGS. NL had more success as a player up here he played in the championship then promotion to prem league down south and won two english lge cups. Up here he was in the big time as we had a fantastic team under MON and also under WGS. But NL never had the experience as a manager before he got the gig. RK has had two jobs in england and also the international experience that NL never had also RK was with man u and had great coaches along with prob the best manager in modern football at a UK level. He will have built up good connections all over the place. I reckon he could be good for Celtic.
