The difference with the Coyle and Keane stuff is we heard nothing about us being close to appointing Coyle, this stuff has been on SSN, BBC Sport and other internet outlets

Keane does it with his own teammates. Lenny has great man management skills. I doubt Keane does.

Does anyone seriously believe he's going to come in and get handed the keys to the vault?

That's not how we operate. If he comes in he'll be working under the same system that Lennon did, which means Lawwell and Park having a major say in who signs.

If he doesn't like working that way he won't get the job I don't think.

Good question. Probably Keane himself. Maybe Houston?

The worrying thing is.......it looks like we approached him. Which makes it almost a done deal. IF he accepts.

I think Celtic must be loving this. The Keane rumour festering away most of the day has kinda made me want the guy in charge...and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Similar type of character to Neil Lennon - has fire in the belly. Plus he'd be a hit in the media up here and would take no *, and would bring a bit of exposure to the game from down south since Keane's always been box office. Relatively young as well so might not be too averse to putting in 3 or 4 years unlike the more experienced heads who've been there and done it and might get quickly bored with the setup up north and want a swift return back to the PL/Championship. He'd also see it as an excellent opportunity at a big job with little pressure at least in the first season or two.

Was never that interested in seeing him in charge - two days ago I preferred we go with Moyes or even Coyle, but now I'm starting to like the idea.

here's hoping as Keane has a terrible transfer record.

Yeah, that's what I think too. He'll also have to start buying players with sell on value.

The difference between Keane and the likes of Coyle and Moyes is that he does have some excellent qualities. And if they come to the fore then we may have a great manager on our hands.

He will get my full backing and i'll give him time even after a mistake or 2. I think it would be harder for me to make that statement about Moyes, Coyle or DiCanio.

This is the intriguing part for me. I just can't imagine Roy Keane being happy to have players handed down to him by Lawwell/Park. You'd think a guy with an ego the size of Keane's would want free reign to sign the players he wants.

That's not how we do things though. Like I say, interesting.

Maybe Roy has bottled it though, look at his signings in the past, maybe he would rather someone else took care of that side?

That's what I'm hoping for. His intolerant attitude to being ordered around would either force Lawwell to look for someone else, or accept that the manager is independent in transfer policy.
