You could take that the other way, as in it proves he is loyal to a club once committed.

Roy Keane has distanced himself from speculation that he could be the man to succeed Neil Lennon as Celtic manager.
The 42-year-old, currently on international duty as assistant to Republic of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill, stopped short of ruling himself out of contention for the post vacated by Lennon on Thursday.
However, questioned repeatedly on the topic after Ireland's training session in Malahide on Friday lunchtime, he repelled all advances.
Keane, who finished his playing career at Parkhead after leaving Manchester United, said: "I've got a job - I've got two jobs - I can't have another one.
"They are a brilliant club, an absolutely fantastic football club, one of the best in the world. But I have got a job."
He added with a smile: "I'm not taking a pay cut for anybody."

Keane's other job is his role as a television pundit, which will take him away from the Ireland camp for Saturday night's Champions League final in Lisbon.

However, asked further what his response might have been if he was not employed by both the Football Association of Ireland and ITV, he replied: "I don't know, I haven't got a clue.
"There's always speculation when you are out of work or whatever. People might see this role as part-time or whatever, but it keeps me busy, I enjoy it.
"I'm happy with what I'm doing and if somebody calls me, I will speak to Martin and the FAI and we will have a look at it.
"But it's all speculation, and obviously that speculation comes from yourselves. I don't think you have heard it from any club sources.
"As I said, I have got a job, we have got a game at the weekend, a busy old weekend coming up and I am looking forward to that."
The Republic face Turkey in a friendly at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday (6pm) before meeting Italy at Craven Cottage and Costa Rica and Portugal in the United States early next month.

Need I remind folk too that Coyle was tipped to take over Wenger when he left Arsenal.

We went with Mowbray over Martinez because Martinez was foreign and wouldn't know what it takes up here (whatever that means), Mowbray was the safe choice and was a disaster while Martinez is now the hottest property in England.

Looks like we're doing the same here. I hate the way we have to have a 'Celtic man' as manager - it narrows our selection enormously and leaves only the most boring and uninspired candidates. There are literally hundreds of good young managers all over Europe who work well with miles less than Celtic would give them in budget, why are we not exploring those options like we do with players. We seem to have our heart set on a guy who offers nothing to get excited about whatsoever and has been unemployed without any suitors for months. I don't understand the mentality of it.

I'm not offering my 100% support to any of the candidates but when there are guys like Garcia and Laudrup out there it seems crazy not to talk to them. Steve McLaren is another one I'd look at, done well everywhere he's been and failed to get promotion with Derby at the weekend.

At the end of the day whoever comes in, within reason (ie not Di Canio), will get my support, but it's not going to get me excited for the new season, and I doubt it will help season ticket sales.

To be fair to Owen Coyle he got on really well with the chairman at Burnley and the fans loved him. He also wanted a crack at the PL after doing the impossible and getting them there.

He has already said that if it was just his decision he would have taken the Celtic job the first time. His family didn't want him to because his kids were happy down south.

That is why the supporters of the club he was loyal to chanted "Judas" at him when Bolton played Burnley.

Honestly, if they was we've operated in the past few transfer windows isn't bad enough appointing Coyle would just be the icing on this penny pinching cake. As I've said before, he seems like a nice guy so I'd want to back him but serious questions must be asked about our club and it's ambition when we are appointing a man who has made a severe mess of his last 2 jobs.

We might not have a lot of money, but we're still a massive club. This should be and I have no doubt still remains is a desirable job for a lot of coaches. I bet we didn't even bother asking the question to any of the even slightly ambitious options.

Frustrating doesn't' even cut it. :31:

Couldn't give a * if he knocked us back years ago the problem I would have if Coyle is appointed is that he's not good enough. I'm sure the fans of his last two clubs would vouch for that

I couldnt bring myself to vote for Owen Coyle in this even though the title is who do you think will be next celtic manager and not who do you want to be. I think it will be Owen Coyle although i pray I'm wrong and I want it to be anyone other than Owen Coyle, I think I will break down and cry if they appoint him, either that or go into a fit of rage, or probably both!

I think it'll be Coyle but would rather it was a guy like Steve Clarke. I just think the state of Scottish football and our budget would mean that anyone without some connection fan or ex-player why would you come here? Under the spotlight for less wages than you would get at relegation threatened PL club, very light budget, no credit for winning the league and only games the fans really care about are European nights. It's a terrible time for Celtic the now tbh and it's no going to get better anytime soon.

Garcia now drifted out to 28/1. Mackay drifted to 3/1 (15/8 with a few).

    Coyle down to 1/2.

I think they wanted larsson originally as a way to sell season tickets, as who doesnt want to see larsson again. Id even sign him as a player manager :56: we should sign someone who likes the german style (not the pep ruining it style) Direct attacking football. Take on your man and beat him! Not, "oh no theres a kilmarnock defender better sideways pass or backwards"

I think it probably will be Coyle and I suspect he really is the best we can hope for. I'll certainly back him when he comes. Having said that, it's a sign of how underwhelming the appointment is that, having resigned myself to Coyle, I'll be almost crying with happiness if we get Moyes (who I don't particularly rate). I just wish we could get someone who makes me feel a bit excited. Clarke excites me, I think he has ideas and I think he's much more up to date than guys like Coyle or even Moyes. I hadn't heard of Oscar García and know little about him; but even that very lack of knowledge would make him a bit more exciting. We all know what we're going to get with Coyle, don't we?

Clarke for me is a terrific coach, Coyle does nothing for me, but Moyes i could take.

I honestly don't buy into these polls. They just seem to get a lot of attention to encourage more people to make a daft bet.

Owen Coyle gets the job at Celtic and i'll be amazed.

I wouldn't be amazed nor would I get my knickers in a twist about it. Coyle is a better manager than many are giving him credit for and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see him do a fantastic job at another club like he did with Burnley.

We should be pulling out every single stop possible to get Moyes just now though. Out of work, has stated on numerous occasions he will be back in Scotland at one point and whilst his stock has taken a dip this is the only time he would come back up the road whilst still in his Managerial prime. We would also be getting a guy with a point to prove. Time to push the boat out.

Hope it ain't Coyle or Keane.

Would like Moyes from the list and after that Malky.
