I want Owen Coyle nowhere near the job. The guy is not good enough, done well at Burnley but after that he's done near enough the same as me in the management game. That Wigan side were, in my opinion, the best squad in the Championship and he had them playing hoofball to Grant Holt and had them about 12th when he got sacked, look at the difference since Uwe Rosler came in. FA Cup semi finals and Championship playoff semi finals were they lost in ET.

The foreign market is the way to go then. With managers who work on budgets and play good football.

The British game is another beast altogether - wee bit of a joke at times.

MON won't leave the ROI job. It's a full time job for him too so he won't be doing it on the side.

The best thing for Keane's career would be to stay and learn under MON for as long as possible.

Keane fell out with other members of the board at Sunderland, where he wasn't that great and was just awful at Ipswich.

I'm up for giving people a chance but I don't think Keane has the qualities to be a good manager. Potential to be a good coach or Assisstant but so far he has bombed when being a manager.

I'd probably prefer a young Scottish/British manager that is a relative unknown. Like Lennon. No point in trying to take Celtic to the next level with guys we already know aren't capable of taking the step up.

I'd be very open to a foreign manager too if he has good credentials. It seems to be an exclusively British thing that managers don't use youth players or sign players from that country.

I like Jackie.but lets not kid on here, he's not ready..

Cup final loss apart, they were well beat off st johnstone all year, had a phase where they couldn't win in about 10 games and finished what 4th, with the second best side in the league..

    too soon

I want Oscar Garcia to get the job, so I can guarantee that won't happen.

We'll get some shitebag who'll do what Pistol Pete tells him. We should have used these last couple of years to get so far ahead of Rangers it would take 20 years for them to catch up, now we'll have some useless * in charge who will inevitably fail to get 10-in-a-row.

Maybe I'm pessimistic, but I just can't see the board getting this decision right. I really think that this appointment will be an even bigger disaster than Tony Mowbray.

Would you have said Lennon was ready?

They seemed to have a 6 or 7 win streak followed by a 6 or 7 game lose streak. But you can't expect a team with 17, 18 and 19 year olds to win every week. They have, potentially, the 2nd best side in the league. Motherwell and Aberdeen finsihed above them because they had an important blend of youth and experience. Bar Mark Wilson and John Rankin, it's all youths.

The problem is, what other time will we get the opportunity to sign McNamara. I don't know about you but i don't want to sign a manager with a view to replacing him within a few years. But that will happen if we sign a sub-standard manager. Now or never for Jackie.

I'm unsure on Keane as a manager. I didn't rate him before but he's had a while out and I'd like to think he has learned/will continue to learn from MON in the Ireland set up. No one can fault him for his passion and attitude towards the game, he is a winner. He would go into the CL with a genuine belief that he could win it.

i think we can all agree the man u job is a lot bigger than the job here, so i think he could handle it.

i agree, but what is that? win every game, play attacking football, both, more? its a results business these days, certainly as far as the champions league is concerned. i think Moyes could work with the budget here and get the results we need to get into the group stages

And yet your convinced on Jackie McNamara:smiley-laughing002: You would actually take Jackie over Moyes all because Moyes had a bad season where as Jackie had an average one.

I wouldn't expect O'Neill to leave the Ireland job. Acting in some kind of advisory role would not mean he has to be looking over Keane's shoulder every day.

Again I disagree with your assessment. He has achieved as much/less as most of the other potential candidates on the list, and in my opinion has the attributes to become a really good manger. The Celtic job would be perfect for him, with him learning in a league with very little competition/pressure on him. As for Europe, not matter who he club appoint it's going to be a risk as very few of the potential candidates have European experience.

As I said before, I think he's got a winning mentality, and would be far more exciting and ambitious than the quite underwhelming prospects of McNamara, Coyle or McKay.

He'll do fine in the league, as with most managers. And maybe qualify for the CL. But appointing Moyes would be admitting that we will never be a footballing giant again. I for one am not content with mediocre/average success. I believe we can, over time, compete at the top level. Moyes and a few other names mentioned aren't capable of that. We don't know if Jackie can or can't. But I'd rather take the risk and experiment with someone like him than get an ageing, set in his ways, boring, failure, that is Moyes.

Lennon brought back the thunder. Someone else needs to supply the lightning. That ain't Coyle and it certainly ain't Moyes

Out of interest, do you prefer Coyle to Moyes?

No. Moyes>Coyle. Moyes at least had moderate success at Everton.

Jackie is my preference but I'd be open minded with appointing Lambert, Larsson, Mackay and Garcia.

Mackay and Garcia were fired, yes, but were never really given a fair shot so I'd be okay with them

we will never be a footballing giant as long as we are getting * all money compared to the big leagues and that aint happening in the foreseeable future. ok, you can look at the odd team in europe doing well without spending massive money, but for us to do that there needs to be a radical overhaul in the scottish game as a whole.
i am conent getting into the group stages and performing well, and see where luck takes us
