The idea of a professional footballer regardless of position not bring able to score from a penalty honestly amazes me they should be able to slot them with ease and have the keeper making a wondersave to get to it.

Commons should be taking them, he's a great penalty taker.

I hope Griff gets taken off them, he's been really lucky he's not had more of them saved he never puts the keeper the wrong way and even me and my dad could tell where he was putting it last night and we were at the other side of the stadium.

Think Nadir will end up taking them eventually, he was a great penalty taker for united.

Deila apparently unhappy with Johansen over the "spat" - saying Griffiths is the regilar penalty taker and that Johansen put extra pressure on Griffiths.

    I agree.

The regular penalty taker should be the person nominated by the manager or captain before the match.

Anyone else who interferes and breaks the concentration of the nominated penalty taker should get a chap in the teeth!

    It's not Sunday league...

Deila accuses Celtic players of unprofressionalism

Celtic's Norwegian manager Ronny Deila accused his team of lacking professionalism after two of them argued over who should take a crucial penalty in the Champions League second qualifying round tie against Stjarnan of Iceland.

The former European champions won 2-0 but Leigh Griffiths missed the late spot-kick that would have ensured a much more comfortable margin for the second leg in Reykjavik after Stefan Johansen and Griffiths argued over who should take it.

"It is Leigh Griffiths who takes the penalties, it should be very clear," Deila told reporters. "There is nothing professional about it. We shouldn't fight about who takes a penalty.

"Of course it impacts on the taker, it gives extra pressure to him. The longer you have to wait, the more chance you have to miss it.

"3-0 is a totally different result to 2-0, so it's disappointing."

It's very clear cut who the aggressor was.

To be fair, Leigh Griffiths was pretty calm over it - said his part to Johansen, then when Stefan still wouldn't relent, Leigh called over to his captain to come sort the situation out.

Johansen best have apologised to Leigh and his team-mates for showing them all up, then a short apology to the fans.......then it's over. Done. Finito.

I hate left footers hitting penalties, always have. Never felt confident with Thompson or Commons either.

I'd probably just have the Captain hit them, at least he's more likely to get into the head of the goalkeeper.

I wouldn't be too sure of Çiftçi taking them, I remember watching a video of his goals for Dundee Utd when he signed for us and most of his penalties were hit the exact same height and the same side of the goal.

Of course they went in but when we come up in big games where the keeper is perhaps studying things like that it could go against us big time.
