We’re all Celtic fans here. We feel something when we watch Celtic play, a genuine desire and longing to see the team win. For most of us no person or team comes close to what we feel for Celtic, but what teams or people do you support in football or other sports? Even if you wouldn’t classify it as “support”, who triggers some sort of emotional desire for them to win? How would you list your top 5-10 in order of how much it means to you to see them win?
I’ll give it a go for starters
1. Celtic
2. Ireland football
3. Ireland cricket
4. Conor McGregor
5. Ireland rugby
6. Vancouver Canucks
7. Luke Littler
8. Raymond van Barneveld
9. Ronnie O’Sullivan
10. Tyson Fury
Think that’s pretty much an exhaustive list of sporting entities of which I have some sort of emotional want for them to win.

I'm of that age, that other than 1998, all I've known is defeat and annoyance with the Scotland team.
Years of picking and giving caps to players not deserving. Years of failure.
Just never built that connection with them.

I'm trying not to let this sound like a glory thing. Where I suddenly pretend I'm always behind Scotland. But at same time, that's my country so of course!!!
Spain and Barcelona just grew more of that emotion you spoke of in the OP. Years of holidaying there in the early 2000s, seeing both building their teams up, the Larsson days and then obviously the 2008-2012 sort of period for both Barcelona and Spain just brings it all together.
If Scotland's playing. I'll always want them to do well and will back them. But can't pretend for years it's not been a turn off and at times I've happily not cared to watch.

Are the only ones I've properly supported. Do like to see Scotland and Ireland do well, but international football doesn't interest me so I can't claim to be a 'supporter' really. -

Celtic always, that goes way back to my childhood and I think my spirit is 100% committed to them.
However, now that my local club is doing well, i'm exited to see them play in the championship next season, which makes me a glory hunter and not a proper fan in that respect. I'm not into sports in general otherwise.
Edit: Forgot to mention. I want England to win the euros :fear: -
I've always thought that if I wasn't brought up to be a celtic fan (and betting on football wasnt allowed) I would have little interest in football.
Whenever I try to force myself to emotionally invest in Scotland or smaller local clubs I never really manage to. Nor am I especially interested in any other sport. At a push I could think of a few mma fighters I have wanted to do well but even then most of them have already retired.
So just Celtic really.neilly1987 likes this. -

Celtic is all for me. As you say nothing comes close so what’s the point. I’ll watch other sports obviously but nothing stays. Probably closest is when I used to watch Murray at the tennis
