We need a person who can instill confidence in players they seem to respond to big names or credentials maybe they will respond to Maresca being the number 2 at MC and see that as an aspiring appointment coming from MC and having worked closely with Pep

I think I’m clutching at straws when I read that:39::52:

Agreed, we are in the strongest position we have been for sometime and giving the job to an assistant manager who flopped at his 1 managerial job would be pathetic.

Arteta was an assistant before his Arsenal gig.

    Everyone has to start somewhere.

He'd say things like "respect the point" after 1-1 draws, as he steers us to 7th place and comfortably clear of relegation.

The Mole so far is just a below mediocre assistant so that's us still well up on them

I think that's different though. Arteta played and captained Arsenal for years.

For example, there's absolutely no way Arsenal would be interested in Maresca if Arteta left tomorrow. There was an affiliation between manager and club beforehand.

But it's a process of climbing a ladder. Maresca slipped on his first rung. Ange's CV before us dwarfs his. I don't care what Manchester City are, Maresca has no managerial successes.

    Maresca :99:

We're finally in a position where we can push the boat out and our main target is the Italian Michael Beale.

Honestly we'll never learn. * awful, lazy appointment.

I said no chance Ange was leaving. Paper talk.. I was wrong.

But Maresca..it just doesn't scan. It makes no sense. It's such an underwhelming appointment, you'd like to think DD learned his * lessons with Deila and Lennon (2nd stint).

Ppl saying McGowan says so also need to chill. For being "Lawells guy" the guy claimed that Lawells retirement was permanent, and that Ange was Jozef Venglos.

If I'm wrong again I'll put my hands up, but * me, surely they can see it's an unthinkable appointment after Ange.

This. Remember how far we regressed after giving NL the job permanently after Rodgers left. We never seem to learn how to build on a position of strength.

Maresca could be a good appointment. But fact is he's done nothing to deserve the Celtic job and nor should we be giving it out to rookies.

I don't feel Maresca is the one but that's from a gut feeling.

I don't think him being an assistant is a stick to beat him with though.

He's a gamble purely based on his limited experience as a manager, and that wasn't a successful stint for whatever reason.

Is Knutsen not being heavily tipped for Ajax? We could still have enquired about him I guess but if there's any truth to the Ajax link you'd think he'll end up there.
