Get your point but in the other hand look at the year Copenhagen put us out of Europa, in my mind we should have progressed through that tie but didn't. Can't help but feel had our team back then been filled with say £20M worth more talent (perhaps 4 players at £5M a shot) then it's likely we would have progressed. I honestly feel like in Europe we are not as far behind than is made out, sometimes we just got push the spending a little further in my mind

Only bit that stuck out for me was about the resources to push on. Might not just be about transfers - things like the indoor pitch and analysis facilities that have been in the pipeline recently might be factors for BR seeing us as a more capable outfit to push on in Europe.

I take your points about transfers but Lawwell jnr and Nicholson have definitely put Lawwell snr's years in charge to shame when it comes to recruitment strategy.

Rodgers learned how to set up a defence yet?

I don't think we even needed 20m, and we shouldn't have to beat Copenhagen. We probably needed a better CB than Jozo or Frimpong should have played RB with Ajer in the centre and Brown probably shouldn't have been in the team at that point either. 2 positions that could have been filled for far less than 20m.
I think what we really need in Europe is some pragmatism. I think the Huns got to a final because gvb was aware of his weaknesses and played to cover them up rather than focus on strengths. We needed to be more careful and realise we aren't playing Jonny mchatchetman.

If that’s the case, it’s good news for us because I think there’s a good chance that CCV is renting his other place :56:

What sort of timeline are we expecting with this then? Could it be announced today? Or is a Friday announcement more likely?

Think he has a property portfolio anyway so buying a house here means * all usually.

He does mate, but they tend to be dotted about a bit more.

I’m sure our wage bill that season was top 10 in the Europa League or thereabouts. The year we got pumped out by Valencia our wage bills were pretty similar.

Money and wages are not the problem. We have more than enough to make a dent. Other clubs do on far less.

How that money is spent is the problem. In the past we’ve drastically overpaid mediocre players, if anything. I think we were starting to see better value under Ange. Recruitment under Rodgers just worries me.

On the basis that today’s talks have went well, I’d have thought Friday.

But when you read the article was no source just speculating he’d prefer a sabbatical as he took one after liverpool

Their is people of our ilk reporting at the sun problem is the editors

Something tells me we were going for number 3 targets because of the price tags potential to sell on for more profit of course and paying them maybe too much for what we are getting from them for every bad draw to get Valencia and zenit to counter that the draws against easier opposition like glimt and copenhagen are not far behind them
