That's well put to be fair.

My main concern with Rodgers is that he gets a bit stale too early on with his style and I wonder who he will sign.

His transfer policy is a hit or miss. Guys like Gamboa, De Vries, Kouassi, Benyu, Compper, Bain, Hendry, Bayo, Shved.

He signed some amount of utter *. Don't get me wrong he signed some belters like Eddy and Dembele, but I do worry.

On the flip side for Rodgers is he can develop a player.

    * knows, I am quite torn. I wasn't a fan that called him a rat either, as much as I was disappointed when he left, I knew he would leave. Saw through the bullshit about being a big fan as a boy and aw that.

Maybe he is trying to right a wrong and settle unfinished business.

I'm at stage where I'm worried if he doesn't take the job. All I think standing in his way would be assurances on transfer budgets. If he doesn't take it then its a bad sign for any manager coming in.

We can speculate and judge Ange for imaginary scenarios to try and minimize what Brendan Rogers did or we can judge both men on their actions.

Rogers - said he was a Celtic fan, left halfway through the season and made up strange stories about Danny Mcgrain and rangers fan’s congratulating him on the motorway.

Postecoglou - never claimed to be a Celtic fan and left at the end of the season and left us in a strong a position as we’ve been in years.

it doesn’t get much simpler than that

Iraola wasn’t on the initial list. Potter and Moyes were.

We have been absolutely pathetic in Europe but Rodgers is the only manager we have won a game under in the Champions league in the past 10 years.

Grand old team to play for
So I love a bit of wild speculation.

Things we know: BR was planning to take a year off.
Knutsen has a great record, but hasn't managed outside of Norway, and has said he's staying at Bodo til December.

What if BR is coming in to do 1 year at Celtic, with Knutsen joining the coaching team in December, then taking over as manager the following season?

Would allow BR to mend fences with the support and get a crack at the CL with a strong Celtic squad. Then take some time off after.

Would give Knutsen the chance to adapt to working at Celtic and get to know the players before taking over as the main man.

People remember his last season. Like many managers year 3 goes stale. His main targets he never got. The board started penny pinching. Lawell thought he knew better. The players all had won everything possible so motivation was lower. He actually stayed longer than many thought to begin with.

Will we perform better in Europe? Yes. We may still get pumped but he won us a game. Ange got severely pumped in what was an easy group. Dont pretend otherwise, we all thought we had a chance of 2nd.

Will he have the sqaud scoring 5 against the huns? Yes I could honestly see it. Ange hasn't at all. Infact ange tactics against them was sussed out. We struggled.

Will he get a big signing of two? Yes. Just like his first year before, moussa and sinclair. 2 massive players like that again would take us up a level.

Does he improve every team he goes too? Yes. Liverpool, Leicester etc. All improved. Like mort managers gets stale season 3. How many managers get a chance to fix that? None. Only Alex ferguson was master of refreshing squads. Nobody else in football gets that time.

    Does he talk *? Aye.
Was we upset he left? Devastated. Hence the name calling and rewriting of 3 trebles on the bounce.

Did ange light up the league the last 6 months? Nope. Time for a refresh. This'll last two years aswel. Enjoy it, atleast you know.

if rodgers is appointed i hope someone asks him the very important question why are you back , what has changed .a bit of honesty would go a long way here .im of the opinion he was getting * over in terms of transfers and lawwell is the rat but if he genuinely thought leicester was too good an opportunity to turn down at least we know where we stand with him .dont think anybody could be bothered with his waffling anymore .the thing i dread the most would be the ressurection of that brendan rodgers song quite possiblly the worst ever anywhere ' you heard us calling in the night' * * :52:

We've only played in the champions league under 3 managers in the last 10 years and have won under 2 of them

Rodgers is the person best qualified as far as I'm concerned, in comparison with the rest mentioned recently, but still not sure he'll end up taking the job if he gets any offers down south.

It’s always the ones without tickets who can’t differentiate the board from the football club.

I love Peter Lawwell, I’m Mr Celtic :56:

There’s an interview with him saying he had taken Celtic as far as he could. So time to move on basically…

I guess he thought beating a non existent R*****s team and getting pumped horribly in Europe was the pinnacle of what was possible with our resources.

Doesn’t exactly fill you with confidence regarding his ambitions with us in a second spell.

He would clearly only be taking the job, for the same reason he took it the first time around… to bolster his cv a bit with some trophies, so he can advertise his services to another rich EPL team.

We’re like that friend you call up for a bit of fun, every time you get dumped… an easy ride to bolster the ego a bit!

The man makes me want to vomit… Celtic fan my fcukin hole he is… :99:

You're very naive if you don't think every possible negative connotation of his move wouldn't be mulled over from 360° multiple times by 'experts and pundits' in the SMSM...

As someone who doesn’t want Rogers anywhere near the job this would actually be great. It’s complete fantasy with no chance of happening of course but I love it

It's so interesting how we make up these plausible stories about what happened whenever we don't know the facts and then proceed to get emotionally worked up about these stories. Human nature is weird. Who knows what has happened behind closed doors? Sure, it is entirely possible that Ange has been lying to us for months and that Rodgers had extenuating circumstances and that Ange was therefore a bigger rat than Rodgers. It's also possible that Ange knocked back EPL clubs and told Spurs they'd have to wait until the end of the season and that Rodgers left in a tantrum because he couldn't get his own way. Who knows?

The point is that, exactly as you say, if we judge both men on what we KNOW, it's a fact that Rodgers left us mid-season for a mediocre club and it's a fact that Ange saw the season out before joining one of the biggest clubs in England.

I think some of us are looking at it all wrong in terms of Europe. In the current situation, we are simply not going to get second in the CL groups unless we get an insanely kind draw. It doesn't matter how defensive we play. We need to think long-term: who will do the best job of continuing the culture Ange has brought and developing players to enable us to sell them for more money in the future and gradually move up the food chain in Europe? Arguably, that's Rodgers. Yes, we'll surely get our arses handed to us 2 or 3 times in the CL as part of that. So be it.

It's not even like we could actually achieve more under a defensive manager. Losing 2-0 at home to PSG might feel less painful than losing 5-0 but they both have the same ultimate consequences. The best a defensive manager could achieve next year is third place in the groups and then a wee run in the EL. But Rodgers is also entirely capable of that too. If GVB can reach a EL final with them, why couldn't Rodgers with us?

Whatever reasons we have for not wanting Rodgers, Europe shouldn't be one of them.

Disagree. Defensive football works against giants. We could get a manager who organizes us to overachieve in Europe. Rodgers cannot do that.
