IF Ange had to take the Tottenham job in March when conte left and got told it wouldn’t be available to him in the summer. He’d have been away for sure

100% no! In the age of conference calls it's possible that we've interviewed loads and nobody outside the club could say

This. I am as dissapointed with Ange to be honest. Brandan was already a very sought after manager, so it was expected for him to leave imo, especially after 3 successful years. He owed us nothing. A well paid oppurtunity presented it self and he took it.

But we built Ange. He would be managing in Japan if it wasnt for us, and he dumped us dirty imo. But this is how it works.

I wouldn’t have went as far as 20 years, but I get the point you are making, and agree.

If it does turn out to be Rodgers (I’m still not convinced it will be) hopefully lessons are learned from last time. He was given far too much power and completely overhauled a pretty successful system, likewise from above him he should be left to get on with his job.

The club is in a far better place this time around though, and there’s no doubt BR is an elite coach who’ll be able to get a tune out of a lot of the current squad as he did last time when he was here when he first came in.

It depends what qualifies as an interview. Rodgers, Maresca, Farioli have all had formal talks. Knutsen (crazy terms and conditions) and Iraola (reluctant to leave Spain) have at least had detailed informal talks.

Who was the sixth one we talked to? You once said we had six on our shortlist.

Glasner had an underwhelming season in the league at Frankfurt, the fans were fine with him leaving. He’s a defensive-minded coach, we’d have to totally adapt and change our style.

He lost Kostić, and that started the collapse of form. In Europe we will have to be defensive.

No, regardless of how much of a * Rodgers is, he has the most pedigree of anyone we could attract.

If someone told us we were hiring a manager who:
    • Previously managed Liverpool and almost won them the league for the first time in decades
    • Managed a club in the likes of Austria/Belgium and won 8/8 domestic trophies, develop players and had an invincible season
    • Then went to a midtable PL club, had them punching above their weight finishing 5th, 5th, 8th, and winning the FA cup despite spending less than rivals and having to sell their best players regularly

We would be absolutely ecstatic. Is he the most exciting? No. Does he have the highest ceiling? I don’t know. Is he a good manager? Yes. To say otherwise is just plain stupidity.

Yes, and in 90% of the games we play, we do not need to be defensive.

Do you have any actual hard evidence to show that hiring foreign coaches has enabled the club to grow?

There is a very strong argument to suggest that it has actually been the managers from the British isles that have stimulated by far the greatest growth in our football club over the years.

MON being the standout, as he brought us back from the footballing wilderness… destroyed a very strong orc side and turned us into a European force again by getting to a uefa cup final.

WGS also turned us into a feared and respected European team, while slashing the wage bill and actually giving young players a chance - including Scottish players, who rarely get much of a chance anymore.

I’ve travelled all over Europe and beyond. Never have I witnessed the same inferiority complex or deep rooted hatred of one’s own culture and native people, as I witness in this part of the world…. It’s really quite a strange bias we have cultivated against our own kind.

Main difference is that Rodgers pretty much * off when an opportunity presented itself. Ange hung around lying to the club for months knowing he had every intention of not being here next season.

For me personally I'd rather a person just * right off when their heart isn't in it than hang around like a bad smell leading me on for months. But that's just me.

He rejected those offers because they were from relegation fodder and his agent was already working his connections to Levy to get his name in the hat for the Spurs job that even my granny knew was about to open up. If Spurs hadn't taken so long to choose their next boss Ange would have 100% jumped in March.
