It’s been reported Rodgers was interested if certain clauses where met in terms of transfer budget

Wouldn’t surprise me if he wanted the full amount that’s in celtics bank to spend which is just not going to happen and shouldn’t happen I want Rodgers back but he has to accept what’s best for the club long term not what’s best just for the next couple of seasons

If that’s the case we are doing transfer business then maybe the meeting with br on Saturday didn’t go to plan I just don’t see him accepting without autonomy on transfers

Furthermore, the bookies have suspended betting on the wrong man. It's going to be Knutsen.

So you actually thnink we SHOULDN'T give him the money he's after? I must have just imagined you complaining about the board possibly opting for the 'cheap' option :56:

He won every domestic trophy he entered whilst manager here, and would have won two more had he finished the season off: Again, as aptly pointed out by another poster, against who? What competition did he seriously have? As I said Deila won both leagues but was sacked for the obviousness weaknesses of not being able to totally dominate, as any Celtic side should have.

One of your points was that Rodgers was slamming our transfer policy. Given he was identifying players and was then getting targets well down the list it seems, I can see why he was having a go. He fell out with Lawwell. Not exactly a difficult thing to do. Lennon left originally because the board not backing him. Deila wasn’t backed either. This board had previous. : It's a given that our board are penny pinching *. But Rodgers was given more than enough funds to prove himself in the market and be trusted. He didn't. It's as simple as that.
His transfer record is atrocious. As is his player and squad management, running KT into the * ground because he could spot a back up to save his life. How is it that this board treated Rodgers so unfairly? Yet were willing to treat Postecoglou so much better, especially considering that Rodgers won more trophies in 2 years? Because Rodgers can't pick a player to save his * life.

You said Steven Gerrard pulled his pants down. In what way did he pull his pants down. We were miles ahead in the league and they were out the Scottish Cup. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. I saw a Sevco team hyped up to the nines, well drilled and utterly BELOW our level. I'm speaking specifically of Rodgers' two head to heads against Slippy. Sevco never offered any competition until he galvanized the club. * manager yes, but he had them all pulling again. A one nil win at home, and one nil defeat away. A single shot in goal in 90 minutes, saved by the woodwork twice, and by Gordon 3 times. A proven CL manager, with a far superior squad, bigger funds, getting schooled by a rookie with a squad of bang average Joe bloggs. So yes, that's EXACTLY what I call getting your pants pulled down by Slippy G.

I’m not comparing the FA Cup to the CL. I’m highlighting how ridiculous your point is about belittling him managing Leicester to an FA Cup because his keeper had a great game. Forster had a great game against Barca, Marshall against Barca if we go further back, Boruc saving Saha’s penalty etc etc. Should we downplay our victories in these games because our keeper had a great game? That’s essentially what you are saying about Leicester winning the FA Cup. Oh and by the way, Tielemans got MOTM, not Schmeichel. : Firstly, I believe I said Motm shift, as in , a Motm type performance. Even rodgers admitted he basically won it for them, as did every outlet who covered it. And you ARE comparing CL games to Fa cup games. You just did it FFS. Celtic wins against far superior teams from Europe aren't comparable to Rodgers beating teams like Bournemouth and Brentford, on their way to the FA final. They're just not. Keeper or no. Winning the FA cup is an achievement in its right, but it's not even comparable to Knutsen hammering teams like us and Roma in Europe.

The mess he left here you say? What, miles ahead in the league, a league cup in the bag, and in the quarter final of the Scottish Cup. Aye, what a disaster. : Perhaps I'm misremembering, perhaps I just hate the *. Or perhaps he DID actually leave a * mess. He dumped us in the middle of the night , with no succession plan, half the squad expecting to leave, and a host of players simply nowhere near good enough. Harsh yes. Because all if your points there are entirely valid. I am perhaps letting my prejudice of him dictate the reality of what he did indeed leave behind. And as @Shelby put, Lennon left a bigger mess. But I see that as him throwing garbage on the dump that Rodgers created.

This is excellent analysis. If they do go for Rodgers it should only be as head coach and bring in a DOF that can plan and build the club. Leave Rodgers to just coach and improve the players to then sell on.

I wasn’t complaining I was simply pointing out that if we go with maresca in the end we are going with what the lawells want I’m neutral either way on what avenue they want also g as it’s best for Celtic I see arguments for both managers

Rodgers, personal feelings aside (tricky I know ) would be box office and I would be genuinely excited about where this team could go.

I'm confident if we did a poll Rodgers or Maresca that Rodgers would come out on top...

He couldn’t help what competition he faced domestically. So that point is completely irrelevant. Regardless of the level of competition, trebles are extremely hard to win. He was on his way to winning 3 on the bounce, one of them being an invincible one. That’s incredible, there can be no denying that.

I’m still not sure on how much say Rodgers had on transfers. The fact he called into question why we signed Shved would suggest he wasn’t in total control by any stretch. He identified good targets we either couldn’t get over the line, or didn’t try to.

Again, I’m not comparing the competitions. But trying to downplay a manager’s achievements because their keeper had a good game is pretty desperate.

Out the last 10 FA Cups, the only one you would consider to be a big upset is Leicester winning it, so that would suggest it’s pretty difficult to win for a lesser team.

The team he left went on to win another 5 trophies on the bounce and topped a Europa League group the following season. It wasn’t exactly a trail of destruction.

Question for you though. Were you gutted when Rodgers left or happy he was away?

And if the poll was Rodgers, Maresca or Other, Other would win by a lot

It's irrelevant anyway, the decision will be made on merit. Whoever is the best candidate.

A win and a defeat, both tight games, is the absolute opposite of having his pants pulled down. Far too much hyperbole. We were the dominant side in the home game too.

Maybe it’s protocol to have two people present in an interview and the finance guy was there as backup to Nicholson not many in Celtic Management with high enough profile to be in the loop of who we are getting in.

The Lawell’s and DD might have been busy with the CL and UEFA stuff or they were interviewing Maresca at the same time

With the current crop plus whatever he gets to spend we would pump Peps City in the CL this time around :34:
