Not keen on Rodgers and his appointment is very much Meh...but like most things Celtic I'll back him.

Maybe its better we don't like him or he's a flawed character, maybe we place our managers up on pedestals too much.. if he gets the job done then * it gotta back him

Would prefer a fresh approach but if its between him and Peps city group * which it looks like.. I'll take BR

    At last! An actual reply.

All of that's a given mate. Rodgers is a great coach. No denying that. My contention is thathe simply cannot be trusted.

He can't be trusted in the transfer market, can't be trusted with the squad, can't be trusted with not pulling more stunts.

He'd absolutely hit the ground running, but how long would it last?
    That's the point.

I want Knutsen. It’s no happening though it seems. It appears it’s a straight shoot-out between Rodgers and Maresca. There is literally no evidence that points towards Maresca not being more of a risk than Rodgers. Not a shred.

    Nah I get that

I've got my concerns too but if it's between him and Maresca it's just a no contest for me. I also feel he would convince players like Jota and Kyogo to hang around.

Narcissist or not he has a standing in the game and every player in our squad will be aware of him.

Not much of a statement of your beliefs mate if that's what your hanging your hat on.

You've conveniently left out ALL of the things I said about his tenure here, which is the crux of my argument that he should be nowhere near this job.

You might see the FA cup as a comparable trophy to the CL, I don't.
You might see Leicester beating Chelsea on par with us beating the best team in world football as comparable... I don't. Not many others would.

    But go ahead.

Hang your hat on an FA cup win. Ignore the mess he left here at the club you actually support.

Dermot Desmond I’d suspect yes it’s all in the balance isn’t it though Brendan could turn around and demand a budget the board can’t give and move on

He might actually come back a humbled man, instead of pretending he was humble..

It's Brendan Rodgers the egotistical rat though. The snakes snake..

The fact that a Norwegian MF has followed Celtic on social media might mean Knutsen is in advanced negotiations with us.

I forget sometimes he was only 43 when he signed with us. 1 year older than Maresca I believe and had already managed over 300 career games.

He MIGHT have changed and I imagine it's part of conversations he's having with Nicholson and Co.

The thing is, I really trust Nicholson. And I think if he's going to Mallorca for the day with the finance officer that's not just an interview that's an offer.

Well it would be a pretty quick interview wouldn't it? Wasting money on a private jet for a face to face meeting, only to find out he's demanding silly money, would be pretty stupid.

As above I don't think it was an interview. If the finance officer is going with him it reeks of an offer in person and signing some contracts....perhaps.

Although Maresca has only had one manager job I still think he would get a lot of respect considering how highly Pep rates him and the job he has done as his assistant.

On another point, the manager shouldn’t have to convince anyone to stay here. If they having to convince someone then their head is already gone, just like Ange at the end with us.

Aye that's actually more likely. Strange for a club who are supposedly trying to go for the cheap option.

Ok, let me try to explain my rationale without coming off as a beligerant *, I'm hungry.

    Hypothetical situation here;

We hire Rodgers, it goes * up. Given his standing in the game, and his maturity, fans and the club say, give him more time, give him more money. He gets those. Absolutely * it in the transfer market, won't sell valuable assets and is canned anyway, leaving us with a fractured squad, a host of dross that he's signed, and a pay out on his contract.

We hire Maresca, it goes * up. He's neither afforded time or more transfer money as he has no standing in the game, and it's obvious he's out of his depth. He's canned, just like Rodgers, only leaving us with tangible assets, a decent squad, and * all pay out of the short contract he would've been offered anyway.

THATS what I mean by riskier.

I don't believe for one second Rodgers is gonna walk back in here and the clock is gonna fly back to quadruple treble o clock.

Ppl acting like it's an instant gimme that he will be successful is madness to me. The first sight of actual competition from Sevco he had already started to falter. And given the * that slippy had assembled, it was embarrassing.

And that not revisionism, it's FACTS.

He's not actually Peps assistant though.

He's like the assistant...to the assistant. I'm sure.

I don't doubt He's a highly rated coach but I don't want a risk/punt at this stage. We need to continue the momentum and I think Rodgers presents the best opportunity for that stability.

At the end of the day, we all as fans enjoy winning football games and trophies and I think Rodgers gives us the best chance of smoothly doing that.

Rodgers is the safe option and it is also a backwards step, the only reason we go for him is the board wanting to continue domestic dominance instead taking a risk to get us to the next step.

Ange was a huge risk and worked out better than anyone could of thought, Knutsen and Iraola aren’t as big a risk as Ange but have the potential to build on the foundations already set from the last 2 years.

This is where it’s coming down to a business decision, we need to be looking at long term. Full faith that all 3 names above would keep us on top in Scotland but there’s only one that has excelled in Europe.

I think we’re also quite close to signing a young Norwegian player so that could also be it … Thiago Thor or something

My worry about Knutsen would be his ability to transfer what he did at Bodo with us. Even the players that have left Bodo haven't been able to replicate it elsewhere.

He could be one of those cases where he just 'fits' them as a club.

    Then again he might not.

    * knows.

Just hire some * and let's spend some money.
