Who could we replace Ange with?

I can’t see Maresca coming in as assistant. He’s at the best team in the world right now, working under the best manager of all time. If he leaves, he’s leaving to take the step up in his career.

 

Who ever comes in has to have experience and have a strong character. Ange didnt just run and pick the first team, he changed the way we do transfer business, getting it done early. He changed how we scouted, how we conducted ourselves on and off the pitch etc etc. The biggest fear is if we dont do that then we go backwards, I have a bad feeling that Peter Lawell will have too much of a say how we go about things now that he seems to be hanging on to DD shirt tails. Any advantage we have over the Huns could be eaten away, not by them being better but by us not going forward.

How many of the signings do you think Ange identified?

The 6 japanese players, mooy and probably Oh.

All the others im not so sure unless he had a crazy knowledge of world football.

I'm hoping likes of AJ, CCV, Starfelt, Oriley, Jota, Haksabanovic, Abada and even Bernabei were players presented to him by scouting department and hes ok'd.

He spoke about working with Nicholson and lawell jr. I'm hoping it's been a case of saying I want x, y, z and they then produced a list for each position and he then had final say.

That's not to say his judgement on ones he picked wasn't terrific but I'm hoping it's the recruitment team that are finding these gems.

On another note, I think he had maybe gone to the well one to many times with japanese players. Yes we had some real success with Kyogo, Hatate and even Maeda but kobiyashi and gucci were poor signings. We were also on danger of becoming even less of a physical team the more we brought in.

 

The Farke rumour coming out is actually quite reassuring, if there's any truth in it then it shows we're still at the point of talking to different candidates and nothing has been settled.

Marcesa feels like a risk we don't need to take yet. Long term projects are fine but If we don't win the league next year he won't be here to see it through

Rik de Mil is on Celtic's radar as their search for a new manager goes on.

The Hoops are on the lookout for a boss after Ange Postecoglou departed to take the role as Tottenham on a four-year contract. There have already been a number of names linked with the Parkhead position including Brendan Rodgers, Enzo Maresca and Graham Potter while Kjetil Knutsen is perhaps the fan favourite choice to leave Bodo/Glimt for Glasgow.


Now Football Scotland can reveal Celts have been keeping track on Club Brugge's assistant manager De Mil who is considered a serious prospect with a top coaching career ahead of him.



De Mil, 41, has been at Brugge since 2015 when he became their youth coach before he was promoted to Club NXT in the Belgian First Division B.


He was replaced in 2022 when he opted to become the first-team's assistant and after Scott Parker was sacked he was handed the interim reins until Ronny Deila took the job after leaving Standard Liege.


It has been reported that ex-Norwich City boss Daniel Farke is in talks with the club while we recently revealed Maresca will be approached after Manchester City's Champions League final this evening.


But De Mil is also being considered on a longlist of names.



It is understood the coach has a lot of admirers in Belgian football as well as across Europe and has also been linked with other jobs in recent times.
