Who could we replace Ange with?

Was absolutely gutted that Ange left, but was pretty confident we’d appoint a good manager to replace him. That confidence has gone. Pretty worried now.

 

Maresca had a 28% win record with Parma in Serie b, why are we even interested? This is going to be a disaster.

 

I wouldn’t rule anything out if it is Maresca, and I would get right behind him of course, but the fact is, we should not even be going for a guy who has had one job and failed. That’s the long and short of it.

 

Ange had a 12% win record at Panachaik. Sometimes jobs don't work out for one reason or another. Parma were and absolute * show at the time

 

Ange had done well in previous and post jobs however. Maresca has not.

 

One could argue he's a coach at a team going for a treble he'd also have access to pep who I'm sure will want to help his pal out

Don’t want maresca ,

I want someone who has a track record of improving teams , who was managed a few years at least and brought success to the club he is at , doesn’t have to be winning game after game and league after league but at least show he improves teams and has built up a portfolio that you can check back on how his teams played etc.

going for a “coach” with next to no managerial experience is too much of a risk!

 

If he needs hand holding from Pep then it's probably far too early for him to be near this job.

Surely at this stage/process
1 We have contacted the candidates who we are interested in.
2 Went through the pile of applications and contacted/eliminated the 'Unsuccessful'.
3We have arrived at a short list of three.
Are we expecting too much for the annoucement to be made Sunday/Monday?

 

Scrolling through Man city forums it's interesting that many of the * on there want Maresca to take over after Pep in a similar thread to this one.

 

Any Farke will do other than one time Serie B manager

 

We always do the cloak and dagger performances when it comes to managers, two years ago we were doing the exact same then we had the Howe debacle and eventually Ange popped up.

if it is to be Maresca then I actually feel a bit better having read that article about his time at Parma, they basically told him to build a new team and change the way the played they then interfered gave him the kids from the academy and he got 14 games the put in a Tony Pulis type manager. The article actually said they were just coming on to a game when he was pushed.

So I’m not too worried as he will have less problems getting his tactics across as we hopefully have a squad that has the same mindset and tactics already, I’m sure there will be a few tweaks but hopefully nothing to far from what we do now

The squad had an average age of 25.

 

The whole affair goes to show how hamstrung we are by the existence of the EPL. We can't even bring in a relative no-name from the other side of the world, one who talks the talk about it being a special club and if you're not interested in being here gtfo n all that chat. We can't even bring in someone like that and get more than 1 season our them before the vultures start circling. The way it panned out, I'm convinced Ange would have left this summer regardless of which end of the EPL he was leaving to.

There's a lot of chat out there about setting up "contingency planning" e.g. planning around the fact that we will only get 2 seasons out of a great managerial appointment. While I agree that we need structures in place to stop the merry-go-round being too disruptive, I think people are writing off the possibility that we could get a good manager in for longer.

I was keen on Iraola but there's absolutely no indication that he's not got his eyes on the EPL. I think Knutsen out of all of them has a bit of loyalty. Please make it happen Celtic

I hope we have looked at him then. His style would suit us down to a "T".

Maresca is Odds on 1/2
Rodgers is out to 5/2

so it looks like Maresca has moved to the front of the que some bookies have suspended the betting on Maresca now

interesting times.
