For those who haven't heard the story, Big Jock went to Kenny Dalglish's house personally to sign him up. Anyway when he looked out his bedroom window and saw Big Jock standing at his doorstep, he had Rangers posters, scarves, and banners all over his bedroom, just covered with them. He threw them all away as fast as he could before he let old Big Jock in. :50:

Bertie Peacock who hailed from Coleraine in the North of Ireland, which is a staunchly loyalist town.
Bertie made over 450 appearances for the Celts and became captain.
He also played for his country in the World cup finals in 1958,getting to the quarter finals.
Like Neil Lennon, Bertie receuved many death threats from loyalists although he was a protestant. He bought a pub in Coleraine when he retired and it was the subject of many bomb threats during the"troubles"

"My first memory of the club was as a supporter, going to a game and seeing Charlie Tully scoring in the last minutes... I think I was about eight years old."
Billy McNeill. If he was eight, that would mean he's been going to games since about 1948. So he was a Tim.

Let's not be niave about it mate.....These guys (and I was lucky enough to have seen Bertie play and was always a huge fan of his swash-buckling, no nonsense style, and he is a HUGE Celtic man....but when he was at school and Celtic were playing Rangers.....and 99% of his wee mates were wanting Rangers to skelp us....Do you think the bold Bertie wasn't happy when his mates team won?

Bertie Auld is one of my ALL TIME Celtic favourites but I am not naive enough to believe IF...and thats a big IF Partick Thistle were his first team...that in those early school years Rangers weren't his second team.

The guy is a Celtic Legend whatever team he supported as a kid.....but lets not deny the probability.

It was actually Sean Fallon, who was sent there by Big Jock.

I think the more relevant question is how many rangers legends were/are celtic fans?

    I daresay that'll be a very short list...

None of them. The closest they have to Legends who were tims are Neil McCann, Danny Wilson, Chris Burke and John Spencer and possibly Allan McGregor ive heard a few times he was a tim but also that he was a Hibs fan.

Compared to us with McGrain, Stein, Dalglish, McNair, Provan, MacLeod, McAdam, Burley, Lambert, Stark, McInally, Deans, Conn and so on. A good few of our captains have been hun fans, I dont think theyve ever had a tim as captain.

Stein was a hun along with his mum, dad and 2 sisters. His dad was also in a member of the Orange Lodge and never spoke to him for years? after he signed for Celtic as a player.
