They care more for Bobby Moore and he won even less.

This will always be a generation thing, but in my lifetime the 5 greatest players I have ever seen were,Pele,Eusebio,Johnstone,Best and DiStefano,in that order.

And trust me on this one,Bertie Auld in his prime would walk into any team on the planet these days, but the other 5 were just very gifted people.

He was the greatest British player of all time.

Some of the posts in here would be embarrassing for those ignorant of his ability, they're even worse coming from Celtic fans.

Hardly think that's the case, Pele is still considered the best of all time by many despite playing a couple of generations ago. I see your point though, people do tend to go with players they've seen themselves. Most Celtic fans under 30 would probably say Henrik was our 2nd greatest ever.

He's up there with the very best: Di Stéfano, Eusebio, Puskás, Garrincha, Beckenbauer, Müller.

He didn't win the World Cup and as we all know that's the only thing that matters.:56:

    I'd say top 20.

It is how it's looked upon though, as someone mentioned, if you didn't rip up the world cup.in them days you were and are over looked..
The fact pele is so.highly regarded apart from being an.unreal striker was because of his world cup showings, it certainly wasn't for his goals in a poor us league..
Pele would have featured more world cup.tournament games than jinky.had caps, that sums up scotland back then and the disgrace it was..

Jinky is.right up on that list, iltc gave some great stats on dalglish and how he was looked upon here and as soon as he left, that probably sums it up even.better..

Totally ignorant *, but hey, whats changed..

I've heard alot of people say jinky was one of the most talented players ever, bu t wasn't always effective. He would skin the same player 4 or 5 times, then run the ball out of play, while a player like willie henderson, who was not as talented, but was sometimes more effective in being a pure winger.

I think as a entertainer, Jinky was among the very best

when I was a wee bhoy my dad took me to reserve games and jinky would run rings around everyone.
I watched him play up until 1971 when I was 11.
that whole team was amazing we feared no team in the world.
as the last poster said he was definitely the most entertaining player I ever saw.
top twenty that ive seen for sure, but you cant compare him with a player like henrik because they were so different, so its all opinions

Watching back, he was absolutely phenomenal. Celtic and Scotland's greatest ever.

I understand the point people are making about the World Cup but Di Stefano was never an international star in the same way he was at Madrid. Likewise Eusebio was phenomenal in the 1966 World Cup but that was the only one. Both of these players were great at club level and that is what defines them.

Playing for Celtic, Johnstone never had the same impact on the European stage as those two but still won the trophy and performed brilliantly in EC games. The fact he never got more caps is to the national team's detriment but that was just the bigoted selection policy at that time.

    Aren't you like 20?

You're the only one being ignorant considering you haven't seen every British player fucksake.

It's like when people ask who the best player ever is. It's generational. In 20 years the people who watched Messi growing up will be telling their kids Messi is the greatest even if a better player comes along.

I'm basing my judgement on what my parents and grandparents have told me, testimonies from legends such as Di Stéfano and newspapers and a fair bit of footage. I've seen more of him than most people have of Maradona or Pelé.

Very few people have embarrassed Real Madrid the way JJ did in Di Stefano's testimonial.

Might only be him and Pep Guardiola tbh.
