Under Obama America is alreading weakening on all fronts. It's not hard to see they are heading for total economic and military collapse. They have already lost the war in Afghanistan IMO, and they have pulled out of Iraq leaving an unimaginable mess behind them. My prediction is China is going to be the next major super power.

    Amen, brother. :84:

I suppose China will arise as the new world superpower. And the truth is, they will be at least the same, if not worse. I would like that world has more than one superpower, so there would be no ultimate headmaster to decide the fates of entire world population.

We already have that with them at the helm.

Yes they do in all but name.

    Spot on mate.

Not their permission as such, just the weapons that they buy from them.

    Sad.

Have they? They still have presence there and will have until they own all the most important resources they have. I reckon it will take approx another 5 years for that.

Not sure about that. The USA's foreign policy is as close to * Germany's (barring killing all the Jews of course) as there has ever been. They are currently installing (well on their way to it)14 permanent military bases in the most useful parts (for them) of the middle east so they have control of the oil supply.

That's actually more like colonialism and nothing like what the Nazis did. If you're going to use hyperbole at least be right about it. USA's foreign policy = based on imperialistic desires. Nazis foreign policy = based on attempting to establish a master race and slave races. There were actually a lot of things the Nazis did that were economically really dumb just because they wanted to clear the world of undesirables.

Anyways, if the US collapses a lot of places collapse. The lack of basic knowledge of export economies is disappointing/kind of funny. Most of the third world is export based. China is both, the export and consume a massive amount. If US collapses, Mexico and much of Latin America will have gaping holes in their budgets, throwing them into chaos. This happened after WWI and WWII. China will also suffer. It won't collapse, but it will stop importing as much as it does, throwing smaller Asian and African countries into even more chaos. The world doesn't run around Europe, what happens there is, to be honest, not that important. Everything revolves around China. If either China or the US falls, the other one will be very weak for a period of time.

I mean, for * sake, a temporary failure of our housing market was the spark that ignited one of the biggest economic catastrophes of the last 100 years. And you really don't think much would go wrong if the entire country collapsed? Take your anti red-white-blue blinkers off for a second and look at it more critically. People with far more reason to hate the US (but who are far smarter) than people in this thread have talked about why it wouldn't necessarily be a good thing. The most important thing is to try to get the likes of Brazil and China to an equal footing and force the US to change their foreign policy.

Na I think its primed for the EU to be the next superpower - we are more tolerant than the conservative * fearing Americans and in time will be stronger economically via better trade terms etc than the rest of the world. But the US are on borrowed time no doubt - they are a victim of their own success and will have to pay the consequences - as a "strong ally" of USA the Brits have to be careful but theyve plundered and pillaged enough of the world to understand this - the US are naive and arrogant.

since 1945 the US have attempted to overthrow 50 foreign governments. the sooner they stop meedling in other countries affairs the better.

and if they are intent on going into iran and or north korea they will get their * kicked if they try to fight a conventional war

That's not uncommon. How many did the Soviets attempt? The Chinese have as well, and Iran is very involved in trying to overthrow the Iraqi government. Yes, the US has done it more (because they're the biggest superpower), yes, it's * up, yes they should stop. But if you think the next superpower is going to be omnipotent then I really don't know what to say.

And if anything, North Korea will be easier than Iraq because it won't be street to street fighting an insurgency, it'll be much more traditional. The threat isn't NK, it's whether China will allow it. Iran will be more like Iraq and thus conventional war wouldn't work so I have no idea why you brought that up as a possibility.

Hah, why does the next superpower have to be a democracy??? And every country in Mercosur is a democracy.

i hope to * the EU dont become a superpower. the french, germans, spanish, british, austrians, portuguese all have historical dislike/distrust for each other that would make it quite difficult to cooperate. add to the fact that they all have their own agandas to achieve and it would be a disaster.

not to mention, the loss of sovereignty and indipendence

The EU politicks too much. Yes I just made that word up. There's a lot of symbolism but not a lot of action, the individual nations just struggle with the fact that even though they are per capita the strongest in the world, they don't have enough people to assert their own foreign policy. That's why the EU never will work, the UK wants the EU to adopt their policies, France its, etc., etc. It works in an internal economic sense but I don't think it will ever work in an external sense as a tool for the member nations to assert their will.

What you think the US will lie down and let Russia/China take over given their human rights past/communist sympathies? Yes the Mercosur might be but in reality they are reliant on the US so they'll go down with them. The EU on the other hand (bar the UK) have aimed to separate themselves from the US as best as they can.

Haha, excellent job they've done judging by the US's housing crisis. And I doubt the US will have the power to assert much of anything sense the premise of this thread is "when the US collapses". It's hard to assert your foreign policy if you've collapsed. The USSR couldn't really stop the US from rising in the early 90's from becoming the sole superpower could it? Because it had collapsed. That's the premise.

And if we're saying that the US hasn't collapsed, that they're just being passed up, then Mercosur is the third most viable candidate because Brazil is turning into Latin America's primary consumer. And then there's India as well which I have shamefully excluded from discussion.

NK might be a conventional war to begin with but they arent daft. Not even the Soviets would have been capable of taking on US in conventional sense. NK would be another Vietnam. And America's military is geared towards conventional war, they will struggle against Iran, the world largest military, in a guerilla war. obv, Iran would suffer huge losses but they'd still be able to * the nose of US.

and you say if america went bust latin america would suffer, dont think thats the way it would be seen in venezuela or nicaragua.

and just to get another thing off my chest, whilst we are on the subject, the us and uk facilitate israel's war crimes by givin them unconditional support and allowing them to have WMD's but threatening to flatten any Arab country who tries to develop one with utter anhilation.

im not saying that i dont want US to be a superpower but i'd love to see the day when us arent the world policeman or at least not so * right wing

NK wouldn't be about invading and setting up a new government, it would be about absolutely annihilating the current regime. This could be accomplished easier than Iraq, Afghanistan, or Iran, which you correctly pointed out would probably be more difficult than any engagement the US has been in.

Nicaragua would suffer, as would Venezuela. The US consumes more of Venezuela's oil than any other nation. And even if those two didn't, Mexico would be absolutely chaotic, and this would spread through Central America. In addition, Colombia would struggle, emboldening FARC, destabilizing northern South America.

I don't think that day will ever come to be honest. It's depressing, and as an American citizen I kind of see it as my duty to change things as much as I possibly can. I think more cultural understanding is the only way to stop these conflicts.
