dont want him and think that would be taking a backward step aswell! If we want a quality manager we must pay top dollar, hes the most important man at the club. As for mcghee this is the guy who sold adam virgo for 1.5 million and although he could be seen as a genius for that bit of business he was saying that he had the capabilities to become the new roy aitken. enough said. Wouldnt trust a manager with money who had his judgement.

Aye not many decent Irish candidates out there right enough...Would'nt wish O'Leary on anyone either..And Keane is way to early in his career for a job like ours..He'll be getting a lot more then 15mill if he keeps them up too from what i hear,i've talked to a fella in that Dromville consortium and he won't be going anywhere..
I think we're far more likely to have another season with Strachan than to sign Levein, Mowbray, or McGhee tho.I honestly canna see past Moyes sure if ye don't ask ye don't get..It doesn't look as if he will get the chance to test himself in the CL with Everton so no harm in shooting for the stars

No absolutely none on this occasion ..Although it comes with the proviso that the awareness is to include the knowledge of which SPL players are not to be signed under any circumstances..

Aye but to be fair to McGhee it wasn't his fault Virgo bombed at CP. He had personal issues plus Strachan never played him in the middle, he was always RB. You can flip the coin and say he done a good bit of business selling him for 1.5mill, seeing as we're now paying his wages till 2009!

must admit for Moyes i may waver my WGS Lassie impersonation:icon_mrgreen:. He has a CV now thats better than WGS and MON pre-Celtic IMO. Just that notch higher and some Euro experience. Defo want him here rather than at the neverneverland bowl

What did you make of O'leary at Leeds. Was he only doing what any guy given a blank cheque would do or was he rubbish.

cant believe people still mention hiddink, best coach in the world getting a huge salary in charge of a very good team, no way he'd even look sideways at us. i'd love a top coach but realistically all we could attract is up and coming managers, i would love moyes but suppose we have to accept mc ghee, collins or lambert, all decent mangers but they're not gonna attract the players hiddink would

yep Gus McPherson is more likely to be seen being introduced to the press with a celtic scarf above his head than Guus Hiddink.

Bad alright.Never was the phrase chequebook manager more appropiate.I could have got Leeds into Europe with 100mill to spend. At Villa he was like Dan Ackroyd in Trading Places, couldn't cope with a frugal chairman and having to live off scraps.. When your own players come together to issue a statement saying that they can't work with you and you have no chemistry with them, that says a lot..
I'll be surprised if he ever works again at club level and Robbie Keane has nothing good to say about him in his book either..Mind you Keane had nothing much to say about anything in that pile of crap

All these threads are turning into dreamworlds of who should replace Strachan. How many times do we need to talk about something that seems to be talked about twice a week?

Troubled times? Is this an admission that we are a club in trouble, and not a club playing good football, with better than average performance at Ibrox?

No but do you like repeating yourself, over and over? Its a copy + paste session on here at times. With no developments in the news or from the club, there is no point in talking about it over and over and over and over. If something happened, yea talk about it but talking about it again because someone missed a thread on it 2 days ago and asked the question again is pointless above all else.

I'm not repeating myself over and over as I don't take a heavy part in these debates, only now and then making a post. It is, however, keeping the forum active with the amount of discussion, and post count on each thread.

We are going through a rough spell, and people are calling for the manager to be replaced, this, and our form at the moment are the topics being discussed most.

Celtic need a guy in there with a track record of winning trophies, mark mcghee so far hasn't won a thing, he has had one good season at motherwell possibly, one for the future though but needs to be a guy in there that can go straight in there and change the team around

I don't think the track record of winning trophies is essential. More a case of a good coach, with the capability of getting the best out of players, and adapting to situations as they arise. Something we are struggling to do just now.

We are not getting the best out of most of our players, and don't seem able to successfully adapt to a plan B.

This would be my list of who I'd like to see/the managers I suspect the board would look at:

    1. David Moyes
    2. Tony Mowbray
    3. Slavan Bilic
    4. Martin Jol
    5. Roy Keane
    6. Mark McGhee
    7. Mick McCarthy
    8. John Hughes
    9. John Collins
    10. Paul Lambert
