I picked target man because we would score more than we conceded if we had a target man. Plus I like seeing us score goals it entertains me

I'd be happy with Rogne and Mulgrew at CB if they can stay fit. WIlson, Lustig, Wanyama and development players as cover. Not too bad really. If the right player doesn't come along (someone that would step straight into the first eleven) i'm happy to go with what we have.

Getting a targetman - i'm a bit indifferent. It would be nice to have an option to play hoofball when desperate, i guess. I'd be happy with a Daly for that role and wouldn't want to spend a lot for a last-throw-of-the-dice type player.

I'd much rather we looked at a pacey forward capable of taking men on - i know, only what every club in the World want. I feel Hooper and Stokes aren't quick enough to be direct and Sammy is way out on the left so has too much to do with his pace and dribbling.

Centre half for me. Defence has been an obvious weakness for a long time and we never seem to sort it out.

Many are saying we need a target man for that plan B to break down defences in the SPL. I'd say, nay. We won the league without one last year, and it'll be even easier to do this year, especially with the emergence of young Tony Watt. Hooper and Stokes are young and only going to get better, as well. And even Daryl Murphy isn't a bad option to have. Can't forget Bangura or Keatings, either. Both need playing time this season to define themselves.

So, a centre half. By a very, very long way. Let's move forward in quality and actually attempt to qualify for the CL.

A defender would be the main priority.

Centre half, we always look weak at the back.

    centre half

although target man could be useful in the spl

we're not going to break down teams in europe punting high balls up to strikers

i would like us to start playing a more possession based game and try to break down opponents by passing skill movement and interplay between players.

european teams dont have any trouble scoring against scottish clubs and they dont hit high balls up to target men so why should we

    backward football that is

and if we as a nation of supposed football lovers want to improve our standards we have to come away from this old style kick and rush type football

can't really understand why Celtic fans would be happy with long ball, target man football either

i thought we were the proper football playing team in scotland!

good post, I think what we need more than anything is a Nakamura/McGeady/Lubo type player. Of course McCourt could be the answer but how often does he actually get a game. :31:

We have a good team but I think we do struggle in the final third sometimes, particularly when teams are sitting in deep. I'd rather see a playmaker brought in to rectify this than a target man.

Russell can play wide in a three up front. That's why I'd prefer him to most of our options.

Goals win you games, simple as that. We pose no aerial threat with the current strikers we have at the moment. While it's imperative that we get a good central defender, we need a target man.
