i accept your opinion m8, but IMO we could have put a Jan cardboard cut out and it would have been as effective.

    So very, very true.

Me and my old man were lamenting the recent perfomances, team selections and tactics all the way through to the match today. Sure I was expecting three points today butI thought we'd see the usual rotation of team members and scrappy performances.

How refreshing was it to see this team come up on the screen then. We immediately agreed that this was Celtics best 11, and felt confident of a result AND a performance.

We looked like a team with purpose and shape today.

And the subs made sense. Young Darren will never let us down and Sammy replacing Jan. None of this Hartley comes on and Barry shifts down to left back, meanwhile Skoosh goes out to right wing malarkey that we have seen recently.

Was it Big Jock that said "Football is a simple game, complicated by idiots"?

We got the basics right today. * playing a team for a certain kind of pitch, or a certain kind of opposition. We are Celtic. :shamrock:

    mcgeady on form?
    didnt see that.
i think the midfield are fed up working hard to pass to a forward and watch them lose it or sky it over the bar.

Never saw the game only heard the commentry, but.
Did Strachan come up with one of his few master plans.
As the strikers are not scoring then just use them as decoys and let the midfielders take over.
    Whatever it worked.

Luck made the difference initially. Pure and simple luck. We got the breaks which took the pressure off the players and allowed them to play their football.

St.Mirren actually started the game quite well. Then their keeper made a howler, quickly followed by the sending off.

If we had not had those breaks, and it had stayed tight for a bit longer, then the crowd gets restless, the players get nervous and it's a completely different game.

We should be able to name 2 teams capable of beating St.Mirren at home, so I don't think the line-up was the difference. We were due a break and we got it. I said on Friday we were going to give someone a tanking.

this is what we do- we hit rok bottom - and the sky seems like its falling - then we turn it around and go on a freak winning run - last seasons low of a terrible run topped of with the drawing 0-0 with hibs - followed by 10 brilliant wins- lost to rangers 4 - 2 this year then won 12 on the trot lost to artedia and then drew with well in wgs first season then won non stop!

we will win all our remaining games now mark my words

Having a shot on goal from outside the box was the difference !

The difference was extremely simple. When we got into the final third we were willing to take a pop. It was blatantly obvious to a lot of people that was the only thing that was wrong with us.

I'm still * off about the Caley game away a few weeks ago, nil nil and a free kick in the 80+ minute and we took a short one instead of getting it in the box. If we had a shoot on sight policy the past 2 months the league would probably have been wrapped up by now.

Anyway that's all by the by, as long as we continue to take shots I'm happy. Even McGeady missing a lot from long rangers is pleasing, he'll score a couple eventually and as long as your working the opposition goalkeeper the team benefits.

I think, after this display, we will play 4-5-1. Strikers can't do jack *, bar McDonald, and we will play a midfield full of offensively minded players who will be given a simple order:shoot when you have the chance. This is doubly true for Nakamura and Crosas. When the season ends, our top scorer will be a midfielder.

Like most folk are saying it's the fact players decided just to have a go when in reasonably distance of goals. If you hit a shot on target then there's always a chance and I'm glad our midfielders finally decided to just have a go.

Sammy scored more over the space of about 10 games than any midfielder will score the entire season.

I can see Skippy kicking on from here tbh, he'll hopefully carry the can in terms of goals.

So you keep saying  If McDonald scored that header against the huns we'd be top of the league. If Larsson was still here the league would be over. If it wasn't for the genius of McGeady Crosas wouldn't have scored that screamer.

Very true, usually it's the opposition closing us down and giving us no room to breath and we end up sitting back. IMO that's when we start getting edgy and nervous, which has been a trait of ours the past 2 year. Also i think the rest of your points are spot on, apart from Naylor. It was the kind of game Naylor can play well in i.e. not having to defend lol.

I don't think the fact that the keeper looked like he was plucked out the crowd can be overlooked m8. The bhoys are still due all the credit though, we were brilliant :50:

St. Mirren getting a man sent off was obviously one of the main reasons for what happened yesterday. Even Strachan himself admitted that. We would have won the match anyway but we wouldn't have scored 7 if that hadn't happened.

after the 2nd goal went in the bhoys just felt like every time e went forward we would create a chance. so we better carry this on to end of season and go on another gd run of wins
