I'm not denying that at all. Have you seen me say they weren't? All I'm saying is they were mid-table when they met us and between managers to.

Probably did, happens to a lot of teams without wuality in depth. It was our problem the Seville season.

Fair enough but they have won their title three times, they were runners up 7 times and placed 3rd three times. So they finished in the top three 13 times in 104 years. So 7 out of 8 times they will finish 4th or lower. That seems to suggest that a mid table club is an accurate historical description as well.

I tend to agree with Og1 on this one. We should be good enough to beat teams from Norway, especially at home, whether they are 1st or last in the Norwegian league. Thought we were tactically poor in both games against Molde and there's no excuse for that.

I've not seen you say it, but by continually going on about how they were a mid table team, which is kinda pointless and lacks any context, tells me that you are ignoring that they aren't a mid table quality team. Like what's the actual point here?

    Were they mid table? Aye
Is that their level in general? No
Is that a result of under-performing? Aye
Is that their level when they played us? No

Its actually such a pointless debate. :smiley-laughing002:

And aye, they were inbetween managers, but that's something that can often help teams more than hinder, out to impress and all that.

I am not denying anything,if og1 wanted to be 100% correct in his original statement he should have said Mølde are a mid table Norwegian team this season.
He didnt say that though hes making out that they are a mid table Norwegian team end of story :smiley-laughing002:

Surely you can see the difference .

Player by player, in terms of infrastructure, our history we are far better than Molde but our tactics and attitude from some players was the reasons we lost those 2 games. Both needed serious addressing and whilst Fenerbahce was an improvement we still have some amount of work to do in both departments before the qualifiers.

They are a mid table Norwegian side. You're getting bogged down in pedantic the point of the original post was about boxing smart and even if they were the champions of Norway for the last decade I would expect Celtic to beat them. I dont see the problem?

I was just replying to * who were saying they're not. It's a daft debate, they * were. There's no if's buts or maybes about that. That's where they were. It doesn't mean a * thing.

I don't think they are a side with much quality, I don't think they were good defensively. I think they're the only team in our group who played as any sort of unit though and that's why they * over everybody in the group. That's the biggest thing Ronny and is can take from this group, get your tactics and mentality right and you won't have much issues.

We may still get beat by more quality sides but I don't take issue with that. Fenerbache, Ajax and Molde were far from quality teams.

I don't disagree with anything you've said here. Molde, although a disciplined unit, weren't up to much in terms of genuine quality, Elyonoussi or whatever his name is, was a stand out, but aye, overall they weren't that good. Ajax and Fener were the opposite, had more individual quality than us, but didnt really play as a good team.

We were neither of those tbh, and even though we were unlucky at times, deserved to finish last.

Spot on. Basically my raisen d'etre on this site for the last two years has been to bang the drum for and * because we are not "boxing smart". Fair play to Molde they showed how its done with a lesser side than us. We need to learn from their example.

    Bang on.

The small bit of quality we actually had, Kris Commons, was the only reason we got anywhere. If we worked as a team going forward and defensively and set up to get the best out of the quality that we do have, we'll get better.

We don't do that just now though, we're very disjointed and rigid.

I tend not to know things that didnt happen. I assume you are referring to Rosenberg and I would like you to tell me when they knocked us out the CL. If it happened in the early 80s or earlier excuse my ignorance for not being born at the time.

I reckon that Rosenberg team would pish all over that Molde team. Not as much as the O'Neill team they beat would murder us though.
