    Spot on mate..

This season was the time for some real investment in to the squad with quality. We've tried to do it on the cheap and taken the * to be honest..

Now that this has been exposed, the fans should pile the pressure on P. Lawwell. He must go - nothing would be too extreme to achieve said outcome.

That doesn’t surprise me mate, there was obviously a reason Turnbull was getting started before him at the start of the season and it was likely because we thought he was for the off and he probably did too.

Same with Rodgers giving him a lot of discussion in interviews after the window shut too about needing him in top form. Ironically if he stayed fit Hatate is another Rodgers probably could have helped kick on.

I just hope he doesn’t turn in to an Ntcham if he can’t get a move. Signed his extension for the pay rise thinking he would go again but has hardly been fit. I don’t think it’s in his nature right enough.

I think we will see our highest income in player sales in a calendar year this year based on the previous post, a lot of people coming to the end of their cycle or surplus to requirements.

    Personally, I disagree there.

Hatate has barely got going this season. He stays an additional year, for me.

    * only knows I'm not Mr Insight and I'm the least ITK person on the forum; but I just knew it! Not only was he one of only two signings who Rodgers put straight into the team and kept there (although even Palma might be losing that tag as Yang seems to have overtaken him now, so Idah might end up being the only one), but the way Rodgers talked about him was totally different to any other signing. I don't mean his words (it's a mug's game taking anything he says seriously) but the quality of his energy when he talked about him.

He was definitely Rodgers' signing. I don't think anyone else was (with the possible exception of Nawrocki).

I think to be fair there has been some sort of idea in regards keeping hold of key men. Long term contracts for CCV, Hatate, Kyogo, McGregor, Maeda and Abada(albeit unforseen circumstances ruined that) made sense. Key, experienced men.

The idea in regards scouting and recruitment is dated and risk averse. The most damaging aspect of the recruitment is our wage structure. That has to be addressed. Missing out on players the managers wants because of a dated wage structure. That also hamstrings the recruitment team. It is also clear that we tend to hedge our bets. Spending £6- £9million on a player is unthinkable. A loan to buy usually is undertaken in this instance. Jota and CCV were good examples. As was Edouard. Bernardo not so much. And so we spread the cost in a risk averse manner with the thinking being that if one £6 million pound player fails the money is lost. Buying 3 players for £2 million means that if two are written off maybe the third turns a profit so losses are minimised. If we are really lucky we find an O'Riley. Everything we do is to minimise risk. There is no attempt to take a chance.

Scouting wise we seem to pick markets where we have had previous success and try to milk the market dry. The J-League being a prime example. Then we also have looked at the Korean and Australian leagues. Not bad ideas on paper really to be fair. Other leagues like Norway and Sweden or Poland as well. Again not bad ideas.

I feel the problem with recruitment has been that a lot of the players from the summer had been identified for an Ange team. It is clear that Rodgers wants his own man in there now who will hopefully scout players that suits his style.

Next season is a massive worry with the way our squad is shaping up. If the recruitment isn't spot on we're in for a very poor few seasons.

The Scottish league, competition, stadia, officiating and weather are hardly selling points when we’re looking to bring in top prospects that will take us up a level. We need to get to a point where players look at us and think, that club will help my career.
Winning trophies, ‘competing’ in the champions league to showcase and advertise player talent, consistently selling players to top clubs showing avenues to progress.

We’ve had all of these at points and yet our club has not took the next step. Repeatedly we end up regressing instead of maintaining or progressing.
Maintaining each of those has never been easier over recent years given the lack of challenge in the league yet we find ourselves up against it, embarrassed again in the CL(points not performances) and clearly unable to attract quality to our club.

We’ve had so many opportunities to capitalise on being a top selling club from a * league that can punch above their weight in Europe.
There’s many clubs out there managing it with much smaller fan bases yet here we are.

Here we are with an ageing, static and frankly incapable board. Yet we keep piling in our money, moaning when this happens again and again, expecting a different result.

    The definition of insanity…

Celtic have made it a top priority to sign a new goalkeeper, winger and striker ahead of the 2024-25 season. (Football Insider)

If we aren’t looking for a left back then there’s no hope

Really positive news that we're looking to address problems two or three windows down the line when we actually need them.

Hoping for a new left back as early as 2028.

It's incredible considering where we were after Ange's first season.

That was the time to change our model. We should've changed to spending big on certain positions and buying youngsters to send back on loan to their original club.

    It's not rocket science.

He then went and signed a new deal, and has been injured since. He’ll be here next season, if he couldn’t get a move tarting himself about on his original low contract after a stormer of a season and a cracking highlight reel in the CL and performances the last 5 months or so of the season being raved about, cemented himself for Japan in that time who were being praised like * after the WC. That would have been the ideal best chance for a move that’d be looked at as a better option than being here.

The interest of teams at a high level won’t be there after this season, and with him tied down on a new deal, nobody will offer an amount that’ll turn our head either. We know given a full season, with time left on his contract in the summer still, we could potentially get far more. He’ll know with that, it’d also be a far better move available then as well. I have no doubt about him being here next year with how it’s panned out. Wasn’t that sure even when he penned the new deal, but it’s the lack of games that makes sure of it

Football Insider are about as reliable a source as guys on here saying what they think we should be doing. Worse infact, because we all say about a LB as well.

At this point in time, Celtic just getting a guy to sign up on this forum and look at the player suggestions thread would be a better scouting and recruitment plan.
