We don't need a favour when we still have to play them

It's not the fact that we lost to the sheep we have many times at Pittodrie, but the performances under the manager that have been shocking since he arrived.
Stand out. Maribor home and away, Inverness in the Semi, red Bull at home and to cap it Malmo, then yesterday we are as poor and can't beat 10 men.
He plays this 6-3-1 system and we are appalling at putting teams under pressure, creating chances is a problem. We didn't sign a striker, defence is * Broon should be dropped and we have absolutely to quality to change performances. The Europa league will be the end for Ronnie as I can't see how he transfoms the * he has created.
We have lost £25m by not qualifying through the 'champions route' which lets face it is a fantastic system for us....but we * just aren't at the races. People come on and say knee * reaction but my answer is you won't see improvement unless it starts at the top....manager should have went after Malmo! We will pay for that decision.

I'm not expecting us to qualify from our Europa group; I am, like you, expecting to see consistent improvement over the course of the 6 games and proof that he has learned lessons about preparing for big European games (e.g. more defensive tactics at times, etc). I absolutely agree.

Again, based on yesterday, no one can be confident of beating them 3 times now.

Do you really think we will play this badly all season?

Knowing full well that van dijk and denayer wouldnt be here we bring in a guy on the last day of the window who wasnt ready for our biggest domestic game of the season and we lost due to the inability to defend.

This 'model' looks good of paper but the reality (in the figures last week) is that we are probobly losing more on players in the last 2 years. All the loans fromblast year. Pukki, balde, derk and so would outweigh the money we recieved for forster.

Weve no ran out of the stock of guys with big sell on value and we seem more of an spfl premiership/ championship select.

Matthews Ledley Ki Wanyama Hooper Forster Virgil. Now its Gordon GMS Armstrong Griffiths Allan Ciftci.

The quality has gone now. We seem determined to play pointless football working it wide and crossing it to no one. Weve failed on the pitch to qualify for a competition that should be our biggest earner. The squad gets weaker and the next year becomes more difficult. Thats the reality of the model we have now.

Only Bitton could be sold for a decent sum. Johansen scores but his all round game wouldnt be good enough for a premiership team.

All we can do now is hope rather than expect.

Just read in the paper that Ronnie has vowed to fight Aberdeen all the way as they are serious challengers.....that's a * concern in mind set.

As I've said, I'm sure like previous years we will come on to our game.

But so far this season we have been lucky to get to where we are. This is a woeful start to the season (performance wise) and against the tougher teams, I can't see what we are going to do that is going to fix this. The team plays one way, it never changes, and it looks deflated and done. * knows why for such a young squad.

But based off of the early games, what makes us so confident in winning more than Aberdeen right now?

Drop this Zonal marking * right now, get back to basic * defending, defenders win tackles, win headers, stay on your feet when you need to, pass the ball to a green and white shirt when it's on, goalkeeper get out and collect high balls that arrive in your 6 yard box, * talk to each other, midfield start moving the ball quicker, wide men start being more positive, Broony get your * finger out and start bossing games again, Surely we can work on all of this in training during the week? If we don't then manager ends up sacked.

Owen Coyle, Mick McCarthty, Steve Clarke...blah blah blah. This is constantly trotted out. Who else can we get. There is a whole football world of managers out there who are not connected to Celtic/Ireland/Scotland that could do a job for us . Did we not all laugh at the other crowd having to have Ranjurs men.

Much is also made of NLs early failures in Europe. What is conveniently forgotten is that it was more difficult to qualify then. Both his failures were pre the champions route. Defeat to Arsenal V defeat to Maribor.

One of the supposed advantages we had achieved was an increased level of fitness. NL was harangued for how unfit his team was yet where are the late goals we were to expect from our super fit team. Yesterday we conceded late to a 10 man Aberdeen.

I am not calling for Ronnies head yet. But neither do I want to bury my head in the sand and ignore the signs. He needs to be judged NOW on his results. The signs for a decent EL campaign are not good. Hopefully he will turn it around because I do not want to have worries another new manager would bring

It was Mogga that lost to Arsenal. IIRC Lenny lost to Braga in his first year and Sion (in the EL qualifiers) the following year.

While I agree with the rest of your statement,we do not need a favour we still have them to play 3 times,I imagine we will improve by the next time we meet and fully expect to beat them in all 3
We can only get better from here

I think Ronny is a good manager but I don't like the caliber of player he signing. I think he thinks he can do too much with players who just aren't good enough.

He's been here 1 season. I'd like to know who these players he has 'developed' are....

I disagree that Ronny is 'absolutely' the right man for the job, and it worries me that some fans are willing to ignore what are a lot of clear weaknesses in his ability because they like his philosophy.

I think he's here because very, blurry few other managers of any significance would work under the current structure. He was a No. 2, who's been thrust in as No. 1 because the board know he'll take the hand he's dealt and get on with it.

I'm not willing to give him another CL qualification campaign to see if he gets it right. We should be seeing some significant improvement in the EL or he should walk. That could actually be accelerated by poor league form.

Same totally agree. Hardly been on here cos of the usual overreacting after a few bad results.

The only player I've seen improvement in has been Griffiths. Deila should definitely take credit for that but it's little consolation when the team as a whole look like they've never played together.
