'We don't care what the animals say'

Except some of 'us' now do. Celtic have proud Irish Catholic roots, and as a fanbase have always supported the Irish republican cause, the first piece of turf at Celtic Park was layed by Michael Davitt, an Irish republican, and the first piece at the newly revamped Celtic Park under Fergus McCann was brought from Donegal and blessed by a priest. Do those of you who want us to be just another football club see anything wrong with this?

Celtic have these links, the real shame of it all is the self loathing Uncle Toms who want us to turn into Hibs.

Personally I couldn't give a * what The Daily Record, or any Hun thinks about us, I am proud of what I am, and what my club stands for, they don't like it but I don't like them or what they stand for either. We are never going to get into the Premiership, and your average English idiot is just going to believe whatever the tabloids tell them anyway so they are going to think we are just as bad as Rangers and they will never want us.

I think you are missing what I am saying people are saying lets bin spl and try another.
I was saying it does not look good chanting ira songs which is what the media and rangers love to have a dig about.
As far as englang and teams wanting us there then I think you are way off the mark I live in england and people dont want us and it is widely belived that celtic is assosiated with the ira thats the point I am making I am not saying people are wrong for beliving what they do I am simply stressing we are playing into peoples hands giving them a excuse to have a go

I can't be arsed using different quotes so im just using your latest one, so here goes! Regarding testimonials, people pick Celtic because we bring so many fans, simple as that. To say why don't they pick a local club is ridiculous, do you really think because Tranmere are local to Liverpool, they would bring as many fans to Anfield as celtic would to play an end of season testimonial?

... now with your arguments trying to defend celtic fans singing ira songs. In the eyes of most people, the ira are terrorists due to bombing innocent civilians (they don't see the ira as the volunteers in the early 20th century, so its easy to see why the english don't like celtic and class them the same as rangers. As long as we sing songs glorifying terrorists,we will be classed in the same light as them

agree with everyone emphasising that such singing harms Celtic.

Its the overwhelming view of people here and amongst the Celtic support and it would be nice if the minority people respected that and refrained from it

I think thats the point thats trying to be made after what happened with lenny there was ira chants and the media picked up on it.
It makes the club look bad this is not a debate on who is right or wrong its a fact it does not look good to other clubs and the media.
why give them ammo to attack celtic fc

    No.

If you have problem with people singing songs go to the games and tell them to stop.

What is this "minority" people are speaking of ? The last time I checked 99.9% was an overwhelming majority and it is that overwhelming majority which sang IRA songs on Wednesday night.

The mainstream media, especailly Scottish, are hding behind htis "O** F***" tag. But there are a lot of people getting wise to it through some great work by some free-lance journalists who aren't afraid to say it how it is and that is that it is NOT an "O** F***" problem but more of a problem that leans towards the huns. These guys are defending our corner and there some media outlets that will take notice.

Neil Lennon kicked the guy. They could use that as a reasons. Supporters clashed with stewards. Another reason.

But it is widely accepted Celtic are invited becuase they know a huge number of fans would turn up. You wouldn't get a football team playing their massive rivals for a friendly due to security etc.

Yes, people may be ignorant to history, but so long as Celtic fans keep singing it, we will be regarded the same as rangers throughout Britain. Yes we are extremely well behaved etc, and are welcomed to European countries unlike rangers, but they can't understand the songs we sing!
