Why would anyone be against this, we only have 2 strikers and Carlton Cole is experienced and proven. This is a big step down in the quality of opposition he is used to and he will relish playing in Europe if we qualify.

if he is still a free agent probably won't have high wage demands, seems like a fairly risk free signing, hopefully we have something more exciting lined up in january though

RD on Carlton Cole: 'He was here to watch the game and get to know us, to see the city and see the club, and we will have talks with him.'

RD: He’s a very good footballer & he’s shown in the Premier League & the Championship that he can score goals, so we'll see him in training.

RD: He’s different from what we have. He’s a target man & very good in the air and strong, so, if everything fits, it could be good for us.

We are light in that area and he provides good quality, if he is fit enough I'd like to see it happen.

Don't know why I was so dead against this 2 years ago :56: Probably thought Balde was the better option :52:

He's got a ton of experience and he's good with his back to goal, if his wages are sensible then I would definitely take him.

Could do well in the SPL. Would he be able to play in the Europa League? Think the squad will have already been submitted so probably not.

Don't mind him as a player and think he would do ok for us but the fact that we only ever play one striker has me not exactly keen on this signing, would rather any minutes possibly given to Cole went to youngsters like Luke Donnelly and Aidan Nesbitt instead.

Not until the next round if we get there, like Guidetti.

have not seen him play too often so cant comment on his ability/skill

we need cover up front.. big nad will pick up bookings, griff will hit a barren spell and Stokesy does not seem to be in contention so i say sign the lad up..

Ronny said he does not have the players to play with 2 up front so this guy could make that a viable option.

i really dont see any down side if he is a free agent and wont demand high salary - he might even feel that he has a point to prove to the EPL teams for not taking him on

^^^ this and the fact he'd be a right handful in the air and also get on the end of crosses which RD is keen to have especially given he likes to attacking wide players :50:

I've always wanted him to sign for us. I think he'll bring us goals. He's got so much experience at the highest level and will definitely do the job for us. Welcome.

Was just thinking that, we should have just kept Sammy, Ronnie probably thought he could get something out of Balde though and everyone knew Sammy was unreliably hot and cold.

Still if we're going to want a target man type striker, I think we should bring Sammy home, I think Ronnie could get the best out of him and he loves the club, win / win. :50:

If his wage demands were reasonable he'd still be plying his trade in England.
