    Police in Aberdeen are investigating "offensive comments" made about a young boy with Down's Syndrome who won the Scottish Professional Football League Goal of the Month award.
    Celtic fan Jay Beatty, 11, of Lurgan, County Armagh, lifted the award for January with 97% of the vote.
    Abusive comments about him were posted on social media following Sundays match between Celtic and Aberdeen.
    A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed the comments were being investigated.
    She said: "We have received a complaint about offensive comments being made online following the SPL match between Celtic and Aberdeen and inquiries continue."
    An Aberdeen FC spokesman said the club was co-operating with police.
    Jay, 11, shot to fame after being carried around the Celtic Park pitch by his favourite player Georgios Samaras during their title-winning celebrations last year.
    Samaras, who is now playing for Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, announced Jay's victory in the goal of the month competition with a special video message.

    Yes , there was someting on an Aberdeen Forum this morning, looked to me they knew who it was, someones facebook that they knew. But too be fair to them were not too impressed by the characters actions.
    Anyway they are only jealous wee Jay scored at CP yeserday and they never!!!

    Unfortunately there is dregs in every level of society and is not confined to one race, rich or poor or one teams set of fans. Some * get their kicks out of making sick or crass jokes on the back of someone's disability, misfortune or tragedy. Thankfully the decent people always hold them bang to rights and weed them out. Hope this guy is employed so it can start with him being sacked. Just so he can understand the seriousness of his disgusting actions!
