Zaluska, Derk, Pukki, Balde and a few of the aforementioned youth players are definitely expendable.

You could perhaps add Tonev to that list. He has shown glimpses of what he can do, but he hasn't really added anything to the team overall, apart from controversy.

If we could rely on Forrest being consistently fit, we wouldn't need McGregor either.

Tonev and Wakaso should've been terminated. Not really sure why we signed them, to be honest.

I don't really think we have too much to worry about it...Deila will have a host of players out in the summer, no doubt. The likes of Pukki, Balde, etc. probably don't have a future at the club.

Tonev and Wakaso should be sent back to their respective clubs.
Boerrigter, Rogic, Blade and Pukki are free to go too.

That would probably take ~£50k a week off the wage bill (total stab in the dark but it would be a significant saving anyway)

People are really still defending Ambrose?

He rarely manages to make any sort of good challenge, he is completely incapable of judging the flight of the ball in the air, he frequently tries to run from his own box to the other end of the pitch and very rarely makes it past the first man to challenge him, his passing is shocking, he always seems to be in the worst possible position, and he constantly plays opponents onside.

Goals Ambrose has cost us this season in Europe:

At least 1 against Legia (his sending off had a role to play in 3 more)
    1 against Maribor
    3 against Salzburg

Anyone care to add to the list?

Ambrose has to be replaced. Any half-decent centre-back would be a vast improvement.

Not a big fan of Lukasz he has never inspired confidence but I will defend him in terms of at least 1 save! ICT at Celtic Park this season we won that game 1-0 and Zaluska made 2 great saves late on to give us the points! Don't get me wrong we should have won about 8-2 but missed so many chances but LZ was integral for us in that game! Other than that he's never a number 1 goalie!

I think Derk and Pukki alone would be 50k...if FM is anything to go by! :smiley-laughing002:

Yep, agree need to get rid of a fair few players.

I'd let every loan player leave, would like to keep Denayer. If Guidetti can possibly come into form then for a free that could be great business, maybe he'll move on though.

I'd also sell Stokes, Matthews, Ambrose (although think we'll keep him with next season coming and both CB probably leaving), Johansen (I'm not a big fan tbh) and I think already I'd let Scepovic go.

Go after Danny Wilson and Ciftci for me and see if John Park can get his finger out and get back into the gems he found some time back.

I expect us to be very active in Summer. Obviously "deadwood crew" has to go, and I'm sure it will.

My major concern is central defense. Potentially we can lose 3 CB's (Van Dijk moving to England, Efe moving "somewhere", and Denayer going somewhere else on loan), and that will leave us with O'Connell and Findlay. That's dangerous situation we have to avoid because of the CL qualifications.

Another concern would be Guidetti moving somewhere else. That would mean that we have to buy clinical striker, and as we all know they are not cheap.

Young backup LB and one classy signing like McGeady would be great, but priority remains to sort out central defense and first striker.

Elephant stone , first thing you forget is that it was Mulgrew's aweful pass that put
Ambrose in the shoite causing him to be sent off . It is definite that for reasons probably better kept to yourself that you have it in for Ambrose or you wouldn't list off these goals that you solely blame Ambrose for . Only someone with a special dislike for him could hold Ambrose solely responsible.

The idea of sending Tonev and Wakasko back to their clubs now is frankly ludricous.
If in the future we want to take a player like Danayer , on a year long contract, the holding club is likely to remember if we sent two back mid- way through the loan period , and if we had they would tell us to get lost .

Casino at the same time after Lennon had made his signings we were confident of them turning out well. Just as at this moment we are confident of Duffy GMS and Armstrong , we can't be sure what impact they will have . Lennon has been responsible for some outstanding signings , big Victor , Hooper Ledley Forster, big Virgil , Izzy Matthews, Wilson, Commons Bitton , Lustig.
Of course he bought in players who didn't progress and will be remembered as a waste of money . One thing is that it has to be remembered at the end of the day Lennon's transfers have made Celtic more money than it cost .

What benefit is there in nipping away at Lennon after he is gone .

It looks like we have a lot, but do we really?

What I mean by that is:

The people who are away on loan are on loan for a reason (ie the majority are clearly not good enough for us, so what else can we do if no-one buys them.)

The people who we have on loan will be gone at the end of the season (Wakaso, Tonev etc)

The youngsters are development players so we need to let them develop (and they will not be costing Celtic any significant outlay.)

That leaves us with a squad list of 22, two which are Derk and Rogic. So we need to punt those two...

So, essentially it leaves twenty of our players who we:

    - have signed and are contracted to us
    - actively see as a valuable part of our squad

    They are:

    Craig Gordon
    Lukasz Zaluska
    Virgil van Dijk
    Efe Ambrose
    Emilio Izaguirre
    Charlie Mulgrew
    Mikael Lustig
    Adam Matthews
    Stefan Johansen
    Nir Biton
    Scott Brown
    Callum McGregor
    Stuart Armstrong
    Liam Henderson
    Kris Commons
    Gary Mackay-Steven
    James Forrest
    Stefan Scepovic
    Anthony Stokes
    Leigh Griffiths

I suppose I am trying to say, Derk and Rogic aside, we have got things in hand squad wise. I'm not sure what more we can do.

I AM excited to see that list of twenty players though. That is a * strong squad.
