Not saying he is but who he plays for and where he plays will add several million to his value.

Rooney can be a fine player.

Sadly he spends far too long most seasons out of form.

Great talent but never went that further stage.

Think this would be a silly decision from United. Anytime I have seen Rooney this year, he has been top class

This is probably a stupid question from me because there is probably no chance but do you think he would go to Liverpool if they put a bid in for him? :icon_mrgreen:

Did beckham want away? Was he not forced out?

He's another one of those players who does absolutely nothing for five games then has one good game and gets made out to be the worlds greatest.

He's a complete waster, ill-suited for the modern game. No player that smokes and drinks is going to succeed in the modern era, even a player with his degree of talent.

Modern day George Best. Huge disappointment.

Care to back that up, sir? Didn't think King Henrik had a bad off-field lifestyle.

Loads of players smoke and drink. This 'modern era' player thing is a bit of a myth imo. Football isn't a particularly taxing sport and for full time athletes I struggle to think of many that are actually in excellent physical condition in comparison to a lot of other sports.

I don't think Rooney has ever fulfilled his early potential to it's absolute maximum.

He's showed glimpses, but he's 27 years old now and hasn't really been consistently putting in top class performances. In fact he's now starting to fall down in the order of top class players even in the premier league were most would probably have Suarez, Bale, RvP, Aguero, Tevez, Oscar and Mata over him, not to mention the world stage.

He was unstoppable in the 09-10 season and should have kicked on from there, he was quite consistent scoring wise last year but never in the huge games when he was needed i.e vs Man City, in the champions league or in the Europa League.

He's failed to produce in huge champions league games like most supposedly "world class" players should do, in the 2008 final he was subbed, 2009 he was non-existent, 2011 final, he scored a goal fair enough, 2012 he never really did anything in the group stages and was woeful vs Ajax and Bilbao in the Europa League and this season he was poor in the first league vs Madrid and was dropped for the second league.

The fact that he now has to play in a completely different role than to the lone striker he was in 2010 or even the second striker he has been for most of his career, shows that even Fergie doesn't really see him as what he thought he could turn out to be.

I'm not denying his quality, I'm just stating an undeniable fact, is that he hasn't quite delivered to the standard he was expected to have done..... especially considering he's been playing at one of the best teams in the world for 9 seasons.

Basically Rooney has been as good for United as he ever possibly can be, he won't be improving or getting any better.

It'd be wise for Fergie to sell him soon while he can still get a good bit of money for him.

With Kagawa to play the SS OR CAM role and RvP their main goal scorer, along with Welbeck and Hernandez there, he'll not be a huge loss especially if they can get £40 million to spend on defenders and a centre midfielder.

I think you might be alone in that opinion mate. He's had an okay season but as usual it's been inconsistent. His main problem is that he seems to be quite injury prone and often takes a number of games to get back up to speed even after a short lay-off.

Hes not having a bad season at all, hes played 20 games scored 11 goals and got 9 assists, for a number 10 thats pretty ideal. Hes nearly always been inconsistent but come the end of the season he always ends up being one of the most productive influential player, infact over the decade i struggle to think of any player whos been more productive on a season to season basis.
