Yes it was a red, my only complaint about the situation would be that the ref took out the yellow card originally but then changed it to the red after the Barca players surrounded him.

If you lash out at anyone, no matter if there's contact, or how hard you lash out, you run the risk of a red.

I would have gave a yellow however i can see why a red was given as it was infront of the ref. Neymar however is a wee * for milking it.

It wasn't a red but that doesn't mean it was * stupid and petulant and game the ref the option of it. This just after he brought him down cynically.

I expect far more from Brown. No complaints that he got sent off but it was a soft one.

You say it wasn't a red but you have no complaints? One of the softest red cards I'v seen in the Champions League, joke of a decision for me, literally nothing in it.

Let's put it this way... It was a yellow before he tried to kick him....

    Definite red :(

    Can't agree more, Gaz.

I have to say, some of the stuff said on here is a * over-reaction of the highest magnitude, and some of the comments about the captain of the club (i.e. ned, thug etc) are * hunnish and those * who said them really should be * ashamed of themselves.

    Ya arseholes.

He had a moment of madness, he definitely had a little kick out at Neymar, and there was no need whatsoever to do it. The fact he didn't even argue over the decision speaks volumes.

He left us up * creek, and has done our hopes of staying in Europe no help at all.

Yes, Neymar is a cheat, and went over the top with his carry on, but Brown should not have given him the opportunity to do so. Not what I expect from an experienced campaigner that is captain of our club.

What he done, reminded of the Brown of old.

You can't say that he wasn't * stupid though, Paddy. He knew fine well what he was doing, and he knew how Neymar would react.

Stupidity from a player experienced enough to know better.

I've no complaints because it was * stupid of Broony and it's something that you simply can't do at this level of football. Broony forced him into making a decision, he was going to get booked for bringing Neymar down anyway and then a bit of afters? It was petulant and stupid and something that our most experienced player in the Champions League and captain should no better than to do.

It was intentional, soft red but that's why I have no complaints because he simply should not have done it.

I can say that because I think it's a ridiculous decision.

Now, before I am accused of wearing "green-tinted" specs (as some other posters have been banding this phrase around) - I've watched that video about 15 times now and can see very, very little with it. A kick? No chance. He's * jogging in his stride, and whether his leg comes out ever so slightly doesn't matter.

One of the worst sendings off I've ever seen in football - by that I mean refereeing decision.

Thats my take on it as well, had some texts last night from family at the game asking if it was a red and I immediately said "was it *". I stand by that.

it was a clear red card you cant boot people !
you may get away with one if you were going into a tackle or whatever, but if you are going to kick someone who is lying on the ground, when the ball is out of play directly in front of the ref on a player who is gonna make the most of the slighest of contact you are going to get a red card.its not as if neymar was causing us any real problems
ignoring how * stupid it was it is absolutely disgusting behaviour for a celtic captain its like something you would have seen souness at and its only made worse by lennon trying to defend it and saying hes gonna appeal it

He does kick his arm, it's not enough to make him roll about like he did, but he did swing his leg at Neymar's arm. And for what reason? Nothing. He was stupid. Take a look at Brown's reaction to the red card, if he felt he was hard done by, the referee would have known, but he knew himself he had done something silly. Neymar made sure Brown was getting sent off, but why did Brown have to kick his arm.

He kicks out at him, there is nothing natural about what he does.

You need to take those specs off :fear:
