theres different levels of world class imo youve got - cantona, inzagi, raul , di canio, del piero, henry, owen etc thats the bracket i would put henrik in, then theres maradona , pele , eusebio , and maybe even messi now who are in a league of there own

Well let's take the heart out of it and look at it objectively and look at what the guy could do:

He had two good feet, was quick, was strong, perfect first touch, incredibly skillfull, knew how to time a run perfectly, could score every type of goal, knew when to pass and had a heading ability that was just ridiculous for a guy so small.

I dont think its up for question, you can't compare him to Zidane and Ronaldo because they weren't strikers.

The guy was simply a complete striker and proved his class at every level of football.

    World Class

You make yourself sound utterly ridiculous with posts like this, and dont do yourself any favours in regards to any of your future posts on this forum, as taking you serious will be a big issue.

Maradona tended to play just off the strikers, probably the guy that invented the 'hole' position between midfield and strikers that is quite common these days.

I think some of the goals Henke' scored could rival most of Ronaldo's and Van Basten's tbh.

true but you cant just lump larsson in with maradona, pele and messi , however in 2001 he was arguebly the best player in europe with the golden boot

Im not, the above are world class but also widely regarded as the best of their generation. I dont think anyone has made that comparison....yet.

I agree with you earlier comment, I was just providing a label for those players to distinguish them from other world class players

Its all a matter of opinions

Its turned into a decent thread, probably the quickest to get a 100 posts...

    Anyway...

My thread was me stating that in a generation, you really only get 3-5 players who stand out every time, i.e. messi, ronaldo rooney just now. 5-10 years ago... Zidanne, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho....

I was saying, the way I see it, "World Class" gets banded about far too often! And in no way was Larsson ever ever as good as the top 3-5 in his generation, making him never world class, thats all I was stating, a wonderful player, who done the business on the domestic and European stage, but so do and have many many quality players.

Please answer this, some of the following I find mind blowing, that some posters have stated...

    1. Is he as good as Maradonna, Cruyff, Zidane
    2. Would you have him over any of these players, as a player, not for what he done in the hoops.
    3. How can you have 2 to 3 tiers of World Class
    4. Would you say that he was in the top 3 players in the world at his time, if so, why wasnt this recognised ever, World, European awards...

An outstanding Footballer, but not world class for me, in the bracket of trully best player in the world class.

(also apologies for replying to the "Hun" post, should have known better, just that nonsense gets on my wick)

I dont think your a hun or that considering i have read a lot of your posts and you have made numerous valid points and said a lot of true stuff on this forum since you joined, i think the guy who called you a hun did it out of frustration and because he couldnt believe a felow celtic supporter didnt believe henrik was world class but the point of world class has been discussed a lot on this forum and most agree it means a lot of different things:50:

Maradona was more skillful than henrik, and probly the best av ever seen

Ronaldo was more skillfull and faster than henrik

Ziddane tecchnique was probly the best we will ever see and an outstanding player

They could all do things with the ball henrik could never do but henriks strengh was his movement his smartness his finishing and it was proved everywere he played internationally and at europeen level

    1. Is he as good as Maradonna, Cruyff, Zidane - probably not, but neither are a lot of people widely recognised as world class.

    2. Would you have him over any of these players, as a player, not for what he done in the hoops. - again, probably not, but same argument as above

    3. How can you have 2 to 3 tiers of World Class - You cant, you either are or you aren't and I think he is / was.

    4. Would you say that he was in the top 3 players in the world at his time, if so, why wasnt this recognised ever, World, European awards... - Around 2003-04 yes, he wasn't recognised because of the league he played in.
