You make a great point mate

but for me henrik wasnt doing the same as Van Basten week in week out for his career, playing for arguably the greatest club side ever.

he didnt win a world up single handidly tghe way maradonna did.

in my opinion, its domplete madness to say he was in maradonas van basten, pele etc... class.
i hate the fact also mate that i had to use Scottish football as a main reason he couldnt be branded world class, it * me off too mate, but its sadly a fact.

    anyways, good point maye, cheers

Anyway yes he was world class one of the best in his generation mate.

The only reason this question is being asked is because he played for celtic most of his career if he had gone to MAN U at an earlier age then he would have been one of there greatest players.

You are falling into the same trap as alot of people outwith scotland of thinking just because he only scored in the spl you can't call him world class, even the rangers fans would say if asked that he was world class and being a celtic fan and seeing what he done for us and for the SPL you shouldn't have to ask this question.

Viper Surely you would agree that if he had went to barca or manu earlier instead of being loyal to celtic he would have scored bucket loads for these teams.

The reason you dont agree viper is because they were completly different style of players, zidanne and ronaldinho were outstanding and great to watch but they did not win you games>>>> goals did and henrik produced them time and time again so am afraid i would have had henrik in my team before them, they were skillful and great to watch and could do unbelievable things with the ball but not in every game.

ronaldo was superb and world class so a cant say henrik was better than him but i would have loved to have seen them in the same team together:50:

You still haven't cottened on to the fact that he didn't only score in scottish football he also scored in europe and the international stage.

No doubt in my mind that he was World Class, the doubt comes from the fact that he spent his peak in the SPL and at the time, critics put that against him. I saw the same critics heap unreal praise on the player when he signed for Barcelona and Man United.

When he was playing against the best clubs in Europe or for country, he was always a threat and often the difference between winning and loosing. He never looked out of his depth at any level or in any match. He met all the criteria I'd associate with world class, and I do think the term is passed around too much.

Right, I think we're getting a little bit silly now! Larsson was phenomenal and one of the greatest players I've ever had the pleasure of watching in the flesh but Cruyff and more so Van Basten were just on a differant planet altogether.

Away you for a lie doon :50:lol

He won the European Golden Boot while playing in the SPL, scored in five major international tournaments for Sweden, won domestic trophys with Celtic, Barcelona and Manchester United, played in two European finals (scoring twice), and won the Champions League.

    Yes, he was.
