If it was a hun I would of said it was never a red, as it wasn't.

He won the ball, it was a perfect tackle.

Refs can send players off who get into tackles with both feet. They can, but don't have to.

Needless to say the ref today had surely a hard on when he saw that tackle. couldn't wait to get his cards out.

    Agree.

This is where common sense should play a part in the decision making instead of always trying to revert back to the rule book.

The only decision the ref got right today was the penalty for us and I would still say that even if it was one of our players that committed that tackle for a penalty.

By way of contrast, here's an example of how 2 footed tackles are generally red cards:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20If7fnKSyg"]2-foot tackle from Henry vs Everton - YouTube[/ame]
Off the ground, studs up, nowhere near the ball, with a real possibility of causing serious injury. You can also see it was motivated by frustration, which suggests it was violent.
    Contrast to this:
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6MKZwSIMmM"]Wanyama Red. - YouTube[/ame]
Doesn't jump, studs on the ground, wins the ball cleanly, doesn't take the man. It's a good tackle. If he only lead with one foot, there would be no debate, good tackle, yet the result would be exactly the same (not the red card, winning the ball & Whittaker being fine.)

Do I think it was a red? No.
Would I want a hun off for it? Yes.
Would I want a St. Mirren player off for it against Dunfermline? No.

So he should have gone purely because it was a "two-footed" tackle even though it wasn't malicious, dangerous, wreckless AND won the ball cleanly?

If that's the case then why is this one only a yellow? -

yet this one is a red? -

Also the 1st challenge on Henry was also a 2 footed challenge INSIDE! the box but like Wanyama won the ball fairly.

Wanyamas was a clear red card. It was an idiotic and naive thing to do. Anyone who suggests otherwise must be pretty clueless. That is a sending off every day of the week.

Cha's was a little more suspect though the fact he allowed Wallace to get ahead of him put him in that position.

Never any chance of Whittiker getting injured.

Usually it is a red card if the player is out of control of what he is doing, Wanyma was fully in control, yes it was two footed, but two footed is not enough to injury a player, he simply got to the ball first.

I have seen similar tackles (i.e Parker vs Richards last month in the PL and Johnson vs Kolorov in the Carlign cup for Liverpool vs Man City), neither where fouls, nevermind red cards.

Yet this one is a straight red?

Ridiculous decision that killed the game.

Exactly, mate and that tackle never even got a second look in but yet Wanyama's is a red card? AND there was no difference between that tackle and Wanyama's.

Was a * ridiculous decision to send Wanyama off!

Never a red. Whittaker went in with intent to hurt Wanyana there though, ober the ball stomp on his shin.
