7million is a brilliant return, but after a year or 2 in europe his value could double that if he does well..which imo i think he will. sure we still have him on contract for 3 more years so even if offers do come in we dont need to accept them.

We have such an overinflated opinion of our players it absolutely beggars belief!!£10m, £12m, Jebus!!

If someone comes in with an offer north of £5m then that would be fantastic business. Great player for us yes, but no one is bigger than the club and in these austere times we cant forget whats happening elsewhere and ensure we keep money coming in.

Lennon will decide if he stays or goes. It will be our choice, not Vic's. And if its good for the club, then fine.

The only people loyal to the club are the fans. Not all players are fans...

Receiving £5M for him after what we picked him up for would be cracking business. However, there's a very good chance he's going to be worth a lot more than that in the future and I would hope we would decline a £5M bid. He's got all the attributes to be worth a lot more than that.

A player is worth as much as we sell him for. Was Mcgeady worth 9 mill? Was Torres worth 50 mill?
All of our star players - Hooper, Kayal, Izzy, Matthews, Wanyama etc - have years to run on their contracts (at least 2) so we can literally sell them for as much as we want.
10 or 12 million may sound ridiculous for someone who has only played in the * SPL, but the ball is in our court with all our players and we can either hold bigger clubs to ransom, or tell them to * off and keep our players. There's no rush at all.

If Wanyama was playing for Chelsea or Arsenal he would be valued well in excess of 15 million this summer, value is all relative.

The Sun say we are ready to offer him a new deal as he denied claims that he wanted to leave.

The Mail say we will sell at £14million, no less.

The Record say he is desperate to leave.

    Don't know who to believe...

Agree. When he's 28-29 he will be playing for a top, top club. Best prospect at the club.

Quite right, we're in a good financial position, with a few years left on his contract and players of a similar level have been going for they sort of prices.

    Good on Celtic.

    Like Ki?

We cant look that far into the future. Lots can happen in between and there is no guarantee he will want to stay. He has potential no doubt. But do we hold onto him and have a scenario where we turn down interest in Ki and then he runs his contract down and we risk losing him for peanuts, or on a free?

Ideally we would keep all the good players and punt the deadwood, but sadly it doesnt happen that way.

We are in a good situation with Wanyama and financially we dont need to sell. But everyone has their price. And with any of our players its not silly money. A bid of anything north of £5/6m would be seriously considered by the board.

Exactly all of this, Newcastle got £35million for Carroll not because he was worth anywhere near that but because they were in a position to demand stupid money. We can do the same. I would be incredibly * off with the club if we were to accept something that may well be a decent valuation of the player's ability (like £5million) but not the extra few million on top that comes from being financially secure and not needing to sell. There's no difference between our best young players and young English ones that go for around £20million. Forrest would go for that if he was English and played in that league, no doubt about it. Likewise with Wanyama.

We should not make a big decision, such as selling Wanyama, until we've got an idea of where we're at, ie. CL team or just pretenders.

If we fail to qualify, sell whoever for the biggest price. If not, keep. Simple.

We most definetly should be looking for £14 of million for Vic because he will be worth that in a year or two without a doubt. We have to start asking for big money for these talented youths just as the Ajaxs, Portos of this world do.

take your head out of your hole for a minute...wanyama only sees celtic as a stepping stone to a bigger club and thats the truth and its sad that thats what celtic has become...people here cream themselves over the prospect of signing a league 1 player and turn their noses up at certain internationals saying , "oh, he isnt celtic class"...bullshit, who really wants to play in a * league called the spl and play on * grounds like invernees in the snow infront of 10k people on * wages with a manager who is a bit of an embaressment to be fair.
i love celtic but i think the league and the club is fuked unless celtic can get a move down south

what, is celtic now a feeder club, bring in talent, they prove themselves and look for a move? how are celtic ever going to progress in europe?
example, hooper is a great player but in european standards hes *....if he cant make that * poor england squad it says a lot, forster too, butland ahead of him, it shows how high spl and celtic are rated in the scheme of things

Letting wanyama go for £8m plus would be fantastic business. We are a selling club...that would enable us to bring in a few good players.

    Reality check required

For the Record's Wanyama story they hav, basically, used the same story template as they did for Kayal last year and many players thoughout the years. Utter tripe.
