I dont think thats true, a good manager/scout of good Clubs will look at a player as an individual and his own personal abilities wherever he is playing, who he is playing with and whatever role or tactics that he is performing under. They will probably watch him performing numerous times and if they think he is that good they will attempt to sign him and pay what they think he is worth.

If for example Ancelotti seen us playing Rennes and Wanyama caught his eye he will have had him watched over and over and if they want him and we say we want £10million, he won't just walk away going "oh hes only playing in the diddy SPL" he will probably think just pay it he will fit into our team brilliantly and thats a bargain.

Just because players are playing at certain levels doesnt mean they are limited to that, they will already have the tools to play at other levels and managers(good ones anyway) will see that regardless.

but nobody pays what they think the player is worth if they dont have to.

say ancelotti did watch him, and valued him at £10 million. he would enquire to see roughly what kind of price tag we would put on him. even if we said that we wanted £10 million, ancelotti would haggle that down by using the whole "he only playes in the spl" argument and that say, an £8 million bid would still be massive money for us and that we should accept it.

think this guy has massive potential, already playing like an experienced pro. could see him playing at the highest level in 5 years.
