I know, I dont necessarily mean this article, but ones in the past that people just say "its the sun/record twisting his words" or something along those lines

Of all the players the MSM are trying to persuade to leave Celtic Wanyama is the one I would love to see stay the most at least for another few years. For me he is our player of the year so far and seems to be a more consistent player then say Gary Hooper and Fraser Forster. Plus given his youth he will likely become an even more dominant player over the next few seasons.
I would love all 3 of the above players to stay and given their youth I really do think they would be better off staying at Celtic at least another season or 2.

Obviously wants to stay in the short term, he's a cult hero with the Hoops faithful. As soon as we see a mega bucks move for him from the Premier League clubs then he'll go unfortunately.

I know, I agree. Anytime people post ones like this I just look between the quotation marks. The rest is generally media spin.

That's pretty much how I read it too. It sounds like Wanyama is saying he'd be willing to stay at Celtic for one more season and then leave. Which is absolutely no use to us because we would get no fee for him if that happened.

If he wants to stay then he should sign an extension otherwise he is not staying.

For me, sadly, Wanyama is absolutely nailed-on to join Man United. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if, on one of his visits up, Fergie arranged the deal. The Ronaldo to Madrid deal was done a year before everyone found out, I can seriously see the same thing happening here.

Vic could quite easily stay here another 3 years though and still move to one of the few bigger clubs and make 200 grand a week. He can do literally everything and anything he wants in the game.

Already this season he has utterly bossed Sneijder, Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Sanchez, Pirlo, and the multi-million pound stars at Benfica and Spartak.

hes a young guy nobody think he's just saying he enjoys it at celtic but knows deep down he'll probably leave in summer but doesnt want to be presumptive about it.

but yeah he'd make celtic and the rest of us happy if in the mean time he signed an extension on better wages

he overkill for our league we will be fine without him!

Lennon says he isn't happy at players talking about leaving, Wanyama says he's happy here. He's just saying the right things, I doubt he will be here come September.

I would opt to take the big money on him if we can get it as with any other players who don't want to commit to the club.

If we are building a team for the future then the last thing we need are players who are tagging along until a better offer comes up and to be fair to Wanyama, he has more or less stated this from the outset.

We have a superb scouting team, I am sure they will work their magic again and come up with some more quality .

I'd love for him to be here next season, but realistically can't see it happening.

    Clubcall yesterday

    From Clubcall-

Celtic's Kenyan star is said to be Wenger's number one target and he will battle it out with Manchester United for his signature when the window re-opens.
Hoops boss Neil Lennon admits the midfielder is likely to move on and a fee in the region of £10million would be enough to wrap up a deal.

CLUBCALL----The telephone and mobile publishing is now promoted via networks, bookmakers and media partners such as Telegraph and Guardian newspapers

Players like Forster and Hooper can be replaced. Players like Wanyama would cost upwards of 8 million. We need to try and unearth the next Wanyama which is very difficult.

Wanyama can, and will be replaced for a lot less than £8 million. He's been great for us and i'd love to keep him, but if players don't sign then they don't want to stay.

We really need to sharpen up. We could end losing Hooper for a couple of Mill less than what we were offered in January.

Losing Wanyama will be a huge blow, but maybe he'll change his mind on the contract.
The thing is, sure we lose Wanyama, but £10million can really strengthen the entire squad.

ffs has the club actually put a price on wanyama ? thats a poor call if they have because i reckon he's worth more than that to those english numpties

as for hooper, i thought we only got offered 4m for him ??? ive heard folk on here saying we were offered 7 to 8m for him, that would have been crazy to knock back that kind of money for hooper cause i think his top price is only worth about 6m max
