We all know he was a Celtic fan but for any action to be taken surely it needs to be proven he was a Celtic fan. I didn't see him wearing a Celtic shirt, did you?

    - Is coming onto the pitch really a harsh crime? especially in a moment of joy. of course I support the rule, because at the end of the day it affects the security of the players. but ask yourself again, what harm does it to step onto the pitch without bad intentions to hurt players

    - a lifelong ban is the maximum you can get. do you agree people fighting on the stands, throwing fireworks, etc is as bad as what he did last night? because you get the same punishment.

The club will not be banned, nor will it be made to play the game over or have points deducted. We will be fined though or worse case scenario could be made to play a game(s) behind closed doors. I only hope the moron 'fan' responsible for the whole situation is caught and severly dealt with, lifetime ban from CP as a matter of course. Fans must remember anytime we wear those Celtic colours we are ambassadors for the club whether we like that or not.....People associate our behaviour good or bad with the club. That's how it is.

Aye, did the Milan fans not somehow get a moped into the San Siro once to drop on the heads of the Inter fans??

What he did was not a big deal in itself but he and we all know the consequences can be very bad so he was selfishly indulging himself while gambling on the entire clubs future in the CL this year. Anyway. he WILL be banned for life. Thats what has happened to the other high profile pitch invaders I have heard of. That * really spoiled the victory at least for a few of hours until we all chewed it over. It will all be forgotten if Uefa just hit us with a wee fine but see if we have to play behind closed doors or replay or something....

Answer to point 1. Yes it is a 'harsh crime' whether in a moment of joy or at any other time......What do you think the outcome would have been if several hundred other Celtic fans decided to run across the goal mouth to join in on this morons 'moment of joy'? If someone was to do similar at a Celtic v Huns match there would be bedlam. You don't see this?

Answer to point 2. Yes, both running on to the park (for the reasons stated above in answer to point 1) are equally stupid and could result in more disastrous consequences than intended by the morons involved. So a lifetime ban should be issued in both cases.

if he had a weapon and attacked dida... if... when... we are talking about this situation now and not what else could have happened.
funny enough, if 1000-2000 would have done the same, none of them would have been punished, because it's just not possible to get them all with 30-40 policemen. happened a few times in switzerland as well, in moments of joy.
I'm not saying he was right, I said it's wrong what he did, but it doesn't justify a lifelong ban, because there are far worse things in football than this.

so basically the guy last night is more dangerous than the guys who took a burning moped to the game?

There's a good chance that his ticket was in a season ticket seat, so the ban should be straight forward.

    statement out

27 year old man banned for life ,home /away

THE individual who entered the field of play at last night’s match against AC Milan has made himself known to Celtic Football Club and will now be banned for life from attending Celtic matches.

After approaching the Club to identify himself, the 27-year-old male, who is not a Celtic season book holder, has today been interviewed by Club representatives. Following this interview, the individual has been taken into custody by Strathclyde Police. The Police will now continue their enquiries into this incident.

Celtic’s Chief Executive, Peter Lawwell commented: "Clearly, Celtic take this issue extremely seriously and it is satisfying that this individual has been identified so swiftly. The individual in question has now been banned for life from attending Celtic matches, both home and away.

"Outwith this incident, the Celtic support last night was phenomenal and I would like to thank our fans once again for their wonderful backing. Our fans have a tremendous record of positive support for the Club at home and abroad, something which has been recognised by both UEFA and FIFA and we are sure this will continue.

"It should also be said that Gordon and his team deserve enormous praise for achieving one of the most famous results in the Club's history, against the current Champions of Europe.

"Celtic Football Club enjoys a fantastic relationship with AC Milan and we are sure this will continue."

You asked the question, was it a harsh crime, i replied yes and stated my reasons. The cops and UEFA do not look at last nights situation and view it as a light-hearted act by a joyous fan. They see the potential implications of having a fan run onto the pitch and be able to come into contact with the opposition goalkeeper.

No last nights incident in no way was as dangerous as that....BUT if other Celtic fans had followed the guy onto the pitch then it could indeed have been potentially just as dangerous for the future of the club in this tournament.

Now that's a more differentiated answer. it depends if we talk about the guy's punishment (only relevant what really happened) or the "security problem" in the stadium resp. for the players (what could happen).

Still think never trouble trouble till trouble troubles you. I compare it with the guy storming across the pitch and threw a barca flag(?) at Figo in 2004.

However I do believe we will get fined, nothing more, nothing less.

At the end of the day I think anything more then a fine would be harsh considering our outstanding reputation. But you never know and it just makes my blood boil with this * *. Here we are and all we are talking about is what punishment we will get when we should be over the moon celebrating and living on cloud 9 after knocking off the current European Champions. What a selfish * *.
