    If Boumsong went for £8 million, Van Dijk can go for a lot more. He is younger, better and footballers are more expensive nowadays.

    Virgil is a very fine centre half but he is made to look better than he really is because of his good defensive partnership with the much ridiculed Efe and the protection that Mulgrew gives him whilst playing defensive midfield . Some of the few domestic goals conceded this year have been when Mulgrew wasn't in midfield .

    May be just enough to keep him here for one more season - which would be ideal for both parties. Another year with us and a shot at CL (he wont get that at United haha) and he will get his big move - possibly even to better clubs on the continent.

    This for me is what i hope is happening. Another year, crack at the CL and some amazing nights in Paradise. I think it's in his mind as well.

    Unless one of the money pits come calling I think he will stay.

    Got to be surely. Unless a (traditionally) top four EPL club comes in, then he'd be a fool to upsticks so quickly for a crack at playing for a Norwich or some pish. That's a sidewards step for no reason to me (Hooper anted to try it for England call up, fair enough). The call will come for him in time. He's either gonna get in to the WC squad or not - a move this summer wont change that. And with two years till Euro, plenty of time to settle for another year, impress and enjoy his football with us, and move on with a bigger chance of a bigger move.
