Unlike 99% of defenders who have good technique/dribbling ability, VVD is actually excellent at defending. I hope we're filling his brain with information on Celtic history and fans, in hope that he might develop a sense of loyalty and last at the club as long as Samaras has.

Absolute bargain at 2.5m. Not a weakness in his game. Which CB in the world could score free kicks like that lol only other i can think of is David Luiz.

He looks as though he is playing training games at times.

    Agreed.

And I was one of Wanyama's biggest fans.

If Vic can go for £12m, I can say with a straight face that if van Dijk breaks into the Netherlands squad, and can perform to the standard he is capable of in the CL, then there's no reason why he can't be attracting offers of close to £20m.

I could cry with joy at times watching van Dijk play.

Only player I can compare him to in style is Paul Elliot, but he genuinely has all the makings of playing at the same levels as guys like Maldini and Baresi.

he is playing training games, training to play one day for one of the top teams in a league far superior to ours :54:

i don't want cash in the bank, i want to see guys like this on the park in Celtic shirts... or will the Celtic museum be displaying balance sheets instead of trophy's in the future.?

The better he plays the sooner he will be gone-- but it is awesome to watch at the moment. :50:

Why would he leave us for a mid table club without Champions League football :icon_mrgreen:

I would like to see him playing for Barcelona or Bayern Munich.

It is heartbreaking to watch these guys come and go,if just one would stay long term them maybe some others would follow and we could build something special.

Should he go to the World Cup, then key thing is to keep him for the following Champions League campaign. If he plays like we now know he can, then you could punt him for some serious dosh next January...assuming we don't reach the last 16 of course.

Holland must take him to the World Cup, he is their best defender easy. If he goes and plays I hope they win it if he doesnt go I hope they get pumped 15-0 every game.

Honestly never seen a Celtic defender as good, he's on a totally other level.

As mentioned, he's different to David Luiz in that he has total awareness defensively, is really strong in the air and is genuinely good at defending.

The technique for that freekick on the slow-mo camera was insane.
