Need to hold on to him for as long as possible. Surely Holland will give him a shot ?

He is really a super player and I enjoy his play with the players
around him just now . Big Vic chose to move on and that's fine by me .
I just hope we have Virgil for another couple of seasons at least . Although
he must be fed up answering the Scottish media's almost daily asking him
    when is he moving .

Although I fully believe he has the talent to end up at a 'big' club I cannot see one like City or Arsenal spending money on him right now. City especially, they have all the money in the world I doubt they would choose to go for him if they wanted another centre half.

In saying that though, he really would suit Arsenal down to the ground. Definition of a ball playing centre half, who can actually defend !!

That was some run from him again yesterday and then the wee spin at the edge of the box :notworthy he just lashed at the shot as hard as he could though, never went too far off target if he leathered that into the top corner it would have added £5million to his price tag :celt_2:

The big man's been terrific for us. The perfect blueprint of the modern day centre-back. He can defend, tackle, win headers, score, dribble, pass, control a ball, the list goes on. If he keeps playing the way he is, he'll be away by next summer.

He doesn't seem to have a single weakness.

Efe is a good player, but he lacks concentration at times, sometimes too over confident and he's quite weak for a centre-half and his heading although he generally wins most headers he goes for as he is tall and gets up a great height his timing is off in the air meaning the ball often just bounces off his head.

Van Dijk though like you say, positioning, tackling, heading, passing, shooting, dribbling, touch, control, outmuscling players just class at everything. He organises the defence, could probably captain the team.

The only thing we dont know about him is if he can cross a ball in from the wing, hit a freekick or penalty or play in midfield.

Love him. Contracted to 2017 as well IIRC?

I'm confident we will keep him for one more full season and sell in summer 2015. Anything after that is a bonus - that is of course if he keeps improving.

Not suggesting dropping Ambrose, but if gradually bringing in Fraser, then someone with the composure of VVD would be ideal to talk him through games.

Love Virgil so much I actually broke a rule of mine and got his name printed on the home shirt yesterday, not had a shirt printed since the days of Larsson and Naka graced my shirt as a child

I'm confident he could easily do all of those things. He is known for his free kick ability, has a Roberto Carlos-esque style of hitting them.

Later on in the season I'd like him to be moved into the midfield.

He was being a *, he was judging him after a friendly game. Must have been some ulterior motive, no person with a single braincell would write a player off for their performance in a pre-season friendly.

    Dubliners ey! :icon_mrgreen:

Van Dijk is the defensive Yaya Toure. Strong as Zeus' bodyguard and technically gifted like a sexy *. He's perfect.

Kompany's replacement, he's so alike him it's unreal.

38 million bare minimum for this manbeast

If this guy was currently playing in the EPL, you just know he'd be valued far higher than what he currently is.

Yeah, that was more of an auto-pilot post.

Not sure what I was doing there.
