With a team valued at £415million, they're hardly a small club are they?

I only want VVD to leave after we get some use i.e. another season at least and at least £15m with add-ons.

I've got a feeling the big man will end up abroad though. An Italian team imo.

    Try 70k.:smiley-laughing002:

Predictable. I don't think we'll ever manage to assemble a great team again. I see folk in this thread saying 'Imagine Wanyama and Van Dijk in the same team', yeah that is a mouth watering prospect and I dearly wish we would have got to see it. We're never gonna though. We'll sign a player, he'll turn out great, some English team will buy him then we'll sign a player with the money, he'll turn out great, some English team will buy him then we'll sign............................and so the cycle will go on.

Lately I've begun to see Celtic's future as being one long rebuilding project. There'll be times we'll get close to having that great team we all want so badly then we'll lose the key players to other clubs and have to start rebuilding again. Sometimes the dream team will be close, sometimes it'll seem far away. We'll never quite have it though, it'll always be that unattainable goal that we flirt with but never quite reach.

Depressing that such a big club should have to live such an existence.

Not surprised in the slightest, if its true of course. He would sort out Man Uniteds defence in the blink of an eye.

    Sell him for £15 million.
Sammy for whatever and then buy 2 class strikers and 2 class defenders.
Forster will go so sell him as well and bring another decent keeper.

i think it would be embarrassing if we sold him this quick, maybe we are a selling club these days but if we cant hold onto a good player for more than six months then its gone too far.

In an ideal world we could do this but we would probs sell the players and them replace then with 1-2 million pound players and roll the dice.

why are people so desperate to sell our best players? frankly, i'd rather we had a good team than lots of cash for * players like pukki and balde. Why dont we sell the dross and improve our team rather than sell our best and buy weaker players?

Agreed. Maybe once or twice we'll get lucky and have everybody develop all at once (Pukki, Balde, Rogic, Biton, etc.) as quickly as VVD did, but more likely we'll only have one out of three develop as hoped. Clubs on the continent have become used to this cycle so I guess we should as well.

So if we do get offered a large fee and the club accept, he goes, who steps in?

Probably most will say Mulgrew, and if we pull injuries at the back who do we have as cover? Any youngsters coming through at CB? Moyokolou is done in.

Just thinking about next CL campaign, will Lenny be adding CB as a position to bring in signings.

Of course if we did have more established defenders from the youth team pushing into the first team (in the mould of Souttar or similar) then losing these key gems we find might not be so worrying.

I hope we keep him....he will be key for Europe.

    15 mill or beat it.

We need to be keeping our players. We need some sort of stability for the next couple of years.
