Think he will be the hardest one to take when he leaves since Larsson of his current for him is his regular form.

    The 4 centre back's they've included are:

Stefan de Vrij - 21 year old with 8 caps.
Bruno Martins Indi - 21 year old with 12 caps.
Ron Vlaar - 28 year old with 19 caps.
Jeffrey Bruma - 21 year old with 7 caps.

Bruma, I remember at Chelsea and was loaned out a number of times, surely isn't as good as Virgil?

Ron Vlaar is a big kick anything that moves type, madness.

Really expected Virgil to be in this squad when van Gaal made the trip to Celtic Park and all the talk of him impressing.

De Vrij and Martins Indi are both quality. Van Dijk should be in the squad but not ahead of those 2 imo.

That's the 2 I'm less familiar with, I know Virgil would certainly give Vlaar and Bruma competition if not be ahead of them though, well should be.

Very disappointing to see him left out of the squad, got to be worth a go at least.

If anything, his exclusion from the squad will just make him try harder for Celtic in order to make it next time.

    Win-win for us.

Am I the only one who isn't all that fussed about our players being called up for their national sides?

As long as they're playing well for us I'm happy.

I'd think so, their value soars exponentially with International recognition.

We would be silly to just want our players playing well in Scotland and a few showcase games in the Champions League.

Over and above that though it's just good to have an interest in more games watching Celtic players perform at the highest level.

He would also learn from playing with top players. Ron Vlaar and Johnny Heitinga are both very experienced and it would be beneficial for him to learn from playing beside them.

Not me. Firstly, I like our players and I know them being called up will make them happy. Plus I like watching them play well for their country.

Then you've got the argument that a player not being called up might force them to want to move to one of Europe's top leagues.

I thought he played really well today, one of the few players that actually turned up.

    Outstanding again.

So composed for a man of so few years.

Would've been better with him as captain.

If we had players of VVD's quality at every position we could beat any team in the world on any given night.
